no work in michigan

Posted by Viking Warrior on August 31, 2008, at 21:47:45

Hello everybody. Just posting to vent. I have put in numerous applications at stores and other places for the past 9 months for work and nothing. Right now though I am working through a temp agency working for a steel fabrication place which is ok. The owner is pretty nice he gave everbody $50 since we wont be working labor day. There are couple of other temp workers that have been there at least two years and have not been hired in. There is total 4 temp workers and 5 regular workers. The temp workers have been making same hourly pay for 2 years. I just can't figure it out. Why won't they hire the two temp workers who have been there 2 years.

Hi Viking Warrior,

Vent away!

I used to work for a temp agency and the company I ended up being a long term temp with didn't want to hire me because they would have to offer me benefits: paid vacations and holidays or inusrance.

I sympathize with you on finding work. I've been working part-time which basically just cuts out my unemployment compensation, but it looks good on my resume. Plus I got an extra day every other week, so maybe I'll get fulltime? Sigh. Optimism isn't my strong suit.

Hang in there.
