Case load to take on course load?

Posted by riot on January 6, 2009, at 0:25:36

HI everyone.
I'm a 21 year old female who is in treatment for Major Reoccuring Depression, PTSD, GAD, and now Fibromyalgia.

I am on Lexapro and Seroquel. Seroquel is giving me reoccuring disturbing dreams, horrible night sweats and fatigue. I am starting to feel like its affectiveness is wearing off as i quickly need a high dosage to have to the same effect. even though its consistancy is irregular i am continuing on because it does help me sleep.

i have always hated school, i graduated high school early, i went into cosmetology school but just couldnt physically and mentally handle school and work full time. I tried for over three years, but with my pain and depression it was too hard for me and i'd end up burnt out.

i have now been unemployed since december with the exception of two months.
I feel like i'm going out of my mind just from the boredom. i picked up canvas and paint this week to start new art pieces.

i am now torn as to what to do.. i am probably going to start "college" this fall, i have no idea what tomorrow will bring, so how am i supposed to figure out what to study. i am incapable of working full time, so whatever i study will only be for a part time career. do i study for money, or interest?

i just feel lost.

hi

sorry so late, just read ur post now. I'd say to answer ur ? shoot for a bit of both. Going for interest only may not yield a paying job which we all need to survive. Going only for money may yield something too demanding but again I could b wrong. Search for something that interests you that yields some kind of decent pay and discuss w/ a school counselor as well. I don't know if you want to disclose what you have but sometimes safer not to but u make the decision.

sorry to hear of your dx. I didn't know what fibro was till i just looked it up now.

i looked at:

take care hope the best for you. hang in there.

Start with just taking one class. See how you do. See if you enjoy it. Take an intro class in something you're interested in-perhaps something will come up in class that could be a possible career. Lots of times profs will know that kind of stuff too-where the jobs are in the field and the best degree to get you there. You'd be surprised in jobs in things you like.

Start slow! Don't expect too much from yourself at first. Start entering the water slowly to make sure you can tread-otherwise it might be a big waste of time and money. Explore options and schools.
