books for school

Posted by llurpsienoodle on August 30, 2008, at 7:31:59

I canNOT believe it. This is worse than the semester when I took organic chemistry and molecular biology. My books are friggin' expensive. I've already spent nearly 400 bucks. shoot.

My only consolation is that some of them are reference books, and some of the other ones are vaguely amusing. I cannot help asking myself WHY I'm reading about quantum physics in a class on the history of psychology. Oh sure, I get it, but isn't the philosophy of science covered in our other texts? Why did I need to get a book on quantum physics. wtf.

haha...maybe the quantum physics is a psychological test....whenever I took a psych class, i always felt like anything could be the prof. psychoanalyzing us...oh well

As far as prices, do you buy online or from used bookstores? It's much cheaper....but i also got scammed once online :'(

I haven't even looked at my books yet -- with two science classes I'm scared at what the cost will be :-S

I just got my books tonight
Over $700.00 in books for five classes!! The cost of books is totally absurd!

Just over $300 here, for three classes -- but one of those three classes requires exactly $16.95 in textbooks.

The prices are outrageous. Since I'm not at a university, but just taking whatever strikes my fancy at a community college, I really find it appalling. Expensive as it is, we can still stretch to meet the costs -- even the $250 from a few terms back. For those who come to a community college because the costs of a university are beyond their means, though, the cost of textbooks can bar them from furthering their education, with all the resulting limitations that implies.

But as for the quantum physics, I got nothing.
