How are everyone's classes going?

Posted by Racer on September 14, 2007, at 22:46:04

Mine are -- mostly OK. I'm a bit behind in reading, and feel pretty uninspired right now. (In fact, I should be doing homework...) But, overall, I'm happy enough with my classes.

How's it going for everyone else?

Classes are going well , at least I am part time this semester! I am taking a writing class, so I am in writing center now waiting for a tudor to look at my first rough draft. Yikes! I am not sure why writing is so intimidating to me. Hopefully I can overcome that!

HATE my yoga class, she does this very fast flowing yoga and I am used to Hatha style of holding the poses for a long period of time and breathing the 4 part breath. With this Yoga class I can barely catch my breath. And since when did yoga involve actually pushups? We did over 20! why? I am glad this isn't my first experience or I would be scared for a lifetime of it. Luckely, it is a pass/fail class. All I have to do is show up, and it is a requirement, so I will try to stick with it.

How are all your classes going?

I'm doing OK. I'm keeping up. I have two tutors! I emailed two and both replied and they each have their own good qualities so I'm going to keep both and not tell them about each other.

The first tutor really seems to know his stuff. The second tutor is an A+ student, but she can't answer all my questions. The first tutor really seems to care that I do well and he's a little intimidating because he makes me answer questions on the spot. The second tutor, well, she's pleasant to be around. I like her. She can keep me on track by monitoring my homework.

I have the first of two midterms on Tues. It's going to be worth 10-20% of my mark. I hope to do well.

It sounds like everyone is liking their classes... unlike me... Not that I"m hating them, I'm just not wanting to take them... okay I'm not liking them. I"m so uninspired to do any of them. I didn't actually want to take any of them. It was the best of a BAD lot.

I take it back...

I like ONE of my classes... But I always leave it feeling so completely in awe of what level the other poeple in the class are able to think at... it's mind boggling

I'm taking a class with a lot of doctoral students. There's only one other post-doc in the room, and the prof has a doctorate.

I'm totally intimidated by the material, and there's something about the prof too. trying to put my finger on it, but I think it's the way that he looks students in the eye. I'm getting some weird transference with him, but I can't figure out why he makes me uneasy.

OTOH, students are intimidated by me. In small group work I joke that I know very little about the subject material, but at least once every class the professor will call on me as the "expert" in something and totally put me on the spot. Last class I got called on, and I very politely contradicted what the prof had been pontificating about for the last 10 minutes. I wouldn't have said a word if he hadn't called on me. I wonder if he sensed my passive-aggression? His authority makes me uneasy, therefore I try to bring him down a notch.

Empower the Llurpsie!

I have a big assgn due tomorrow. a 15 page paper on all the readings to date. I still have about 3pp to go. Oh well. I just wrote a diss, 3 pp is like... nothing... so? why did I just write a page on how I have to write 3pp.

Wowzers!!! Are you having fun with the class. But I'm confused, I thought you were done school? Is this class just interest based or did I miss something in my internetless time?

nope you didn't miss anything. I'm done with school- i.e. no more degrees, but I need more training for the particular job I want.
