Proofreading woes

Posted by Happyflower2 on September 22, 2007, at 15:05:19

It seems no matter how many times you read your essay, you will still find a dumb mistake because you read what you think you wrote, but actually it says something else.

I got raise up and rise up mixed up. dugh!

When I read it to myself I say rise, but I have written raise.
this stuff is messing with my mind.
I always get accept and except mixed up!

It is virtually impossible to proof your own stuff.

One thing I have found that helps is to read it backwards, that way you really have to focus on the words.
