Professional rehab doesnt work out.

Posted by Lamdage22 on October 13, 2018, at 10:14:31

I am too unwell for this. I sleep 12 hours a day and when i go to professional rehab for 5 hours i dont have enough time and energy to do everything i need to do.

I had a bad reaction to niacinamide. That kicked me out of work mode. I started a vraylar trial today. No ill effects. Slightly stimulated for two hours!

I'm sorry to hear you have been feeling lethargic. Hopefully your new medications will help, once you settle into them?

Are you still running?

I started back at the gym, recently, after going really easy on it lately. All my muscles are achy after only 20 minutes on the elliptical trainer! Ridicuous! Sleeping heaps, too. It is strange to me, but I expect I'll adapt really fast.

When i take Vraylar i cant sleep. I was hoping that my psychiatrist would put me onto low dose Mirtazapine for that, but i called him too late.

> Are you still running?

No i am on the cross trainer right now. I burned 420 calories and i increase the calories by 10% every time.

Thats good. It helps!

People are applying pressure to me and i dont like it. I know someone whose family has driven him into suicide by pressuring him.

Ultimately it has been them who messed me up so they shouldnt raise their finger on me!

Boo yah!!

> I burned 420 calories and i increase the calories by 10% every time.

Wow. I don't even look at that stuffs. I try and track the distance and also track the time. I would like to run a 5km in under 30 minutes is some sort of benchmark I have set myself. Only... I think it doesn't translate to running times, really, because on the eliptical there isn't a moving fanbelt or... Whatever... There isn't a reliable calibration mechanism. All you can do is pick the same device time after time only it will get sloppier...

> People are applying pressure to me and i dont like it. I know someone whose family has driven him into suicide by pressuring him.

Aw. Yeah, pressure is hard.

My Mother is not supportive of me, either. Before it was around the time of my birthday. So she started up about how it was around the time of my sisters birthday, also, and about how my sister was going on about being too old...

Because my Mother wanted me to say 'yeah Mom I feel too old to be alive, too!!!' Because... That's how she gets off, yeah.

But I didn't. She started up about 'it's your birthday soon - how old you gonna be?' and I was like 'you want me to do the math so you can then beat me over the head with it?'

?

So she backed off. But today (after her birthday) she felt it was appropriate to tell me that I'm far too old to do Medicine and to have aspirations generally and so on...

And I was like 'wow Mom you're so supportive!!!' And of course it's the same level of support I've come to expect from her. I'm always... Too... Something. Too old, too young, too smart, not smart enough... Whatever whatever excuses excuses why don't I just sell myself for prostitution? Or why don't I just sit like a bum on welfare? Nothing would make her happier!!! F*ck*ng yeah.

Awful people.

Maybe your meds will kick in...

My mother was like "you have only been there for two weeks". There is always this tendency to belittle things that i do. Its been 7 weeks. Like when i wanted to study psychology in the united states. Who knows? Would they have been supportive of that idea i might not be in this predicament right now.

I have been at the vocational rehab place again. Staying at home is even worse. I want to move forward also physically. Its my hobby! But the rehab takes a toll, i dont have unlimited energy.

I dread the farewells. They make a huge deal out of it. I will tell them i dont want a ceremony. I dont like to make a great stir of myself and i would be deeply embarrassed by such a ceremony like i have witnessed today!

I like to count the calories because its a good sign of how much work i have done. Our treadmills and cross trainers have this function where you enter your target calories and then it shows you how many you already burned and how much you still have to burn. This way i dont have to calculate with time and distance. I think this way its easier for me to track my progress!

7 weeks is a bunch more weeks than 2 weeks. Well done for sticking with it for that long.

> I have been at the vocational rehab place again. Staying at home is even worse.

Cool. I guess I was worried that you might mope about the house, but you have other things to be doing.

> I want to move forward also physically. Its my hobby! But the rehab takes a toll, i dont have unlimited energy.

Fair enough.

Yeah, I don't like fusses like that, either.

I'm not sure how that works -- but if it works for you that's great.

You enter your weight and it calculates how many calories one would usually burn doing a certain amount of work.

Yeah...

But I don't really understand how it works that out.

I don't suppose it matters, though.

I was watching the kids do diving today. I think I might try that. They had a sign up about masters diving. I suppose it will end up being people over 18 or something like that. People who were formerly competitive but now do it just for fun. Or not. Will see.

My back still hasn't come entirely right. It always did feel like my weakest link. I would get to a certain point and my inability to stand / squat the weight up limited my lifts. So I needed to strengthen my squat. And then my inability to work my front squats harder without injuring my back became my weakest link. I think because at the end of the day I lack the ankle flexibility required to keep a properly upright torso under the bar.

So... More bodyweight stuff is in order. And then if I'm working on posture stuff and pullups and pushups and so on I might as well do handstands and backbends and I might as well have a go at diving. Yeah. Why not. Seems you don't always have to go bounce bounce on the springboard. And you dont always have to go head first, neither. And there are progressions. So... Yeah. Once my back is a little bit better (so I can work on my leaning forwards and backwards then falling into a dive which seems to be one of the earliest skills) then I think I'll give it a go.

I mean... Some stairs. A jump. Pull yourself out of the pool. Have a bit of a rest. That sounds more like me than kick kick kick kick kick kick kick kick kick kick with people who have ridiculous lung capacity after years and years and years and years of it...

Hope i will be well again soon.

> So you are working out not just endurance but also strength?

At the moment I'm working on developing a sort of a basic level of fitness. I got out of the habit of exercise, this year. And cut back a lot last year because I didn't much like trying to train at the University gym with the teenagers. The swimming teenagers are different because they work really hard (long hours) for their sport and their gym work is assistance (so they seem to have programs) and they don't really have land legs and their arms and legs tend to be long so they aren't all grunty and obnoxious in the gym the way teenage boys sometimes can be when they discover their mirror muscles.

I think I do want to try diving. So that means I need to work a bit on my flexibility / mobility so I can hold and move quickly into pikes and tucks and so on. Handstand. Handstand -- jump! Oh, dear. Progressions... Progressions. Just jumping off the edge of the pool in a streamlined position you drill into the water quite deep and it actually freaks me out being under the water like that. I think I will have a lot of practice to do.

I'm a bit worried, actually. I've been watching a lot of olympics and youth olympics lately and I get the Olympic lifters and their coaches don't really tell them what they did wrong because they know what they did wrong. But the divers seem to need to ask. I don't know that diving is a sport that you can do independently without a coach telling you what you need to do. We can't set up cameras in the pool, either, I don't think. So I wouldn't be able to place cameras and see the replay. Though... I'm surprised they don't train divers like that. With immediate feedback of coach narrative to a reply of the judges camera angle so they can see what they need to do better next time. Maybe they do... It was invaluable for me with Olympic Lifting. Yeah.

I'm also surprised a lot that at the Olympics there was a lot of variation in where people were jumping from on their take-off from the 3m springboard. I mean, some were jumping from pretty far back and some were hanging 10 with the front of their feet off the edge (which apparently makes it hard for them to launch to get the height). I don't know why they haven't drilled it over and over and over and over and over with the particular foot placing. I mean, I'm sure they know what they are doing, but I don't really see why that is something that varies with each dive...

Anyway...

I hope you feel less depressed (actually happy) soon.

too much calcium makes you sleep lots? i hadn't heard that one.

i have been sleeping a lot, too. mostly, in my case, it's because i don't have anything to be getting up for.

i know i can do it when i have to... be at the horse racing stables for 6am track time. be at the chemistry lecture for 8am start. first week or two sucks, but then the sleep starts to pattern (at least it will if you don't have party party party in the slums! neighbours)...

at least that's my experience of it.

when i'm left to my own devices i'll end up staying up later and later and getting up later and later and sleeping for 12 or 13 hours, sure.

i think there was something about how people who tend to depression tend to sleep more than 8 hours and people who tend to mania tend to sleep less than 8 hours. there was this thing about how when people are manic typically they haven't slept in a while, and when people are depressed typically they have been sleeping a great deal.

which is now partly starting to sound environmental.

i know it's a different world when i'm working to capacity with only 7 or 7 1/2 hours sleep per night... you get into a... bit of a manic groove... time starts to go a bit funny... it is easier to focus and work quickly... i'm sure there's a reason to sleep deprivation training (i'm sure there could be theraputic reason for this to be part of a training process)

though i'm sure people also abuse that... or are just ignorant about it...

unfortunately... when you don't have anything to be getting up for it's hard to get up. at least that's my experience. i don't know what to say...

i think there is some stuff on people trying to get into a routine / habit of getting to the gym for 6am training when they start work at 9am. if you can get yourself through that first couple weeks...

like kicking sugar or whatever, i'm sure. get through the body-shock you get to start with.

i'm feeling like a horrid blobby monster right now. and i'm feeling like the whole interview thing is probably just about trying to give a quick and dirty boost to local economy (people needing to book last minute flights to get into the area and then stay in hotel accommodation)...

on the other hand... i have applied only once before and since one or both of my parents weren't doctors, i wasn't dux or first in science at any of my secondary schools...

now is not the time to lose faith.

i found this really nice explanation (from the uni) about sort of model answers to the sorts of questions they ask in the structured interviews.

it helped me a lot.

i am very much used to (have been very much trained to)... something like toastmasters (give a monologue for 2 minutes) and i thought that was what they wanted to see. confident talking. i thought they actually cared about what i had to say (i thought they were actually assessing the quality / depth of my answers to the questions they were asking)... i thought they wanted me to demonstrate such virtues as clearness and steadfastness (defending what i said if the interviewer questioned it) and so on...

they explained it really well... more like a game of chirades where the interviewer has some arbitrary criteria to grade me on that is fairly well defined. to think of the question as simply a prompt. to aim for more like key words and if the interviewer doesn't seem pleased then stop. let them offer a new prompt (they are allowed to do that). try and take their lead to get whatever it is that they want from you.

that's okay... it's just a different game. i didn't know that that was what they wanted to see.

that a station is there to *try* and get you flustered / wound up.

they want to see you be diplomatic and diffusing and so on.

anyway... i saw it is a worthwhile thing that they are looking for. it is just that i didn't know what they wanted from me and philosophy (and things like it) train something different, yeah.

Lamdage... I don't know what to say about the long sleeps... You might feel better sleeping less... But when there isn't anything particular to be doing...

I had a friend who was very well trained to a timer. She would set a timer for everything. Set a timer for a 20 minute work block. Set a timer for a 5 minute break. She was pretty great at getting into things and out of things. For me changing things is hard. Waking up sucks. Once I'm awake I realise I could have slept less. When I'm waking up I'm just so freaking tired I need to sleep more... Getting started into writing takes around 20 minutes but once I've got myself properly started I can run for hours and hours and hours and hours...

Can you remember a time when you were happier with your sleep patterning?

Calcium supplements exacerbate my depression almost immediately.

There is a balance between calcium and magnesium. They antagonize each other.
