What are you listening to?

Posted by beckett2 on October 18, 2017, at 2:47:39

Can anyone recommend something a little gentle? I'm so easily rattled these days. Well, even if it isn't gentle, I'd love to listen to new music.

Lately I listen to contemporary music, but right atm I'm streaming classical radio http://tinyurl.com/y7j78bn4

I wish I could say I listen to contemporary music, but as I get older, I find myself listening almost exclusively to classical, which I grew up with (my mother was a classical pianist and I studied classical voice). I didn't much listen to classical for a long time, but now I find that's all I want to listen to. I should broaden my horizons My daughter is a singer/songwriter with a folk/jazz synthesis, so I listen to her stuff and that of her friends. Can't give you her name without breaking anonymity, but she's really quite good.

I mostly just listen to a music when I'm at the gym.

Underworld, Barking

A Calvin Harris mix

And some Parov Stelar

But I think is just that it is a good tempo or something for gym stuff. I'm kind of habituated to the interval cues.

I found some Chopin and it was really terrific... I would play it differently - if I could play. If I could play that. Haha. Just wonderful for the brain.

You could try Spyro Gyro. They are a sort of rock-jazz fusion.

Maybe some George Benson -> "Breezin'"

Happy listening!

This is off topic. Last week I found some nice pencils and coloring books , and while listening to music or audiobooks, and I find that place that felt good when I was a kid, one of the good feelings I can recall. So nice to find it-- sometimes I feel like that past is gone or dead or nothing good to recall. Odd. Coloring is a trend and I understand why.

I really like to color, too. I like drawing, too. Stuff with clean lines, so I get to color it in, as well. When I did DBT (however many years ago) they encouraged us to get into art, stuff. I got a terracotta pot and spent rather a lot of hours painting it over the holidays, I remember. It does make a nice difference from playing more mindles computer games and so on.

I'm not very good at drawing, but I enjoy it. And it is actually worth my working a bit at biological drawing, now.

I listen to a pretty awesome online radio station called Radio Paradise. A lot of their shows are pretty calming--not all of course-- but they play pretty good music most of the time.

It's a free online station. they ask you to sign in, but you can listen anonymously without any ads or other constraints. Other than an occasional "thank you for listening" it's all music.

I also like classical music and last night listened to all 9 Beethoven symphonies-- which was a great experience. I especially like the 6th.
