Yikes! Where are you? Temps are unusually cool in Northeast US. I don't know if I could handle 111F.

That's a bit frightening. Are you okay?

West Coast. Doesn't the East Coast have heatwaves? With all the humidity?

We did have significant rain, but overall, we're in a drought with wildfires.

We're ok, thanks for asking. My reptilian brain still functions :)

We do. I've never experienced temps over 100 though. But 100 with high humidity is probably as miserable as 111. This summer, though, has been very mild and August actually unusually cool. But the weather is getting warmer and weirder. I was in Paris in late May and they had three days of 95 + weather. Very unusual. Summers in Paris are usually mild, so few places have air-conditioning.

I hate extreme heat more than I hate extreme cold (and we get some of that in the winters). Mostly, I would be happy to live where the temps were always around 40-80. Northern CA maybe. But who can afford northern CA?

There are places to be had very north, but no work.

It's 108 atm. Tomorrow's high is forecast 86. It's not always this hot, but this is part of things to come, unfortunately.

True, though, it is a dry heat, (I'm aware that's also a punchline), and temps drop dramatically at night.

On the east coast, I remember on occasion the temp might climb a bit at night. So unfair!

Hi rj, today is better, weird though, cooling with a little rain. Do you live near hurricane country? I see there's a category 4 off the east coast.

Fall is here. Less sunlight :(

no texas isnt in the path, i think it's Caribbean and part of flordia, we could not sustain another hurricane after harvey, never seen so much flooding and rainfall that put parts of it underwater, dallas is helping houston because they it was hit hard

Ah, so you were affected by Harvey? :(

How will the US deal with two hurricanes at once :( if Irma hits full on.

Hope everyone is safe!

Harvey was horrible, but the US is a rich country and can - if the political will is there - rebuild Houston. I get more frightened by Irma, which is not only a worse storm, but is hitting poor Caribbean nations. What will they do if they suffer the kind of devastation visited on Houston?

harvey is the most costliest disasters in US history, katrina in 2005 there were many lives lost, and this coming hurriane irma is going to be intense, prayers to all those families and evuacuess, hopefully it may slow down before it hits flordia, should not be taken lightly

i don't know the set of procedures that FEMA does, but their going to have to also go to flordia, from the news there saying Irma is most strongest storms recorded, i just hope it will slow down and reduce, Caribbean have been hit hard already

wasnt trying to be insulting, i read it again seemed a bit liek that, but this storm coming to flordia is supplosely catagory 5, houston had devestation in property loss, if irma hit houston again, it would never be the same.

Oh no, not at all. I'm glad Irma was not as bad as predicted. At least for Florida. For Barbuda, it's a nightmare.

I haven't checked in with the news, but I think Irma moved eastward as a tropical depression, so TX was spared extra rain.
