I marvel how my reflection [poem]

Posted by hiddenhurt on December 4, 2016, at 10:59:47

I marvel how my reflection
Has a certain glow--
I could be a surgeon
Or a CEO--

While underneath the glow,
A great and growing pain,
About which few know,
Racks my wounded brain.

Nature abhors pain
And hates for it to show.
My life circles the drain.
I smile and say, "Hello!"

But behind the public show
My life begins to spill;
How ill I am, so few know,
But if I die they will.

> This is a very moving but troubling poem. Maybe you could confide in a friend or family member about how ill you are, so they know without you having to die for them to realize your pain.

Thanks for you thoughts. Yes, I have some real problems and don't share much about them with anyone. I'm going to take time off from work for treatment in an outpatient program starting Tue. That is how I alerted my family and colleagues. But none know about the cutting but the docs. Wife gets stressed more than supportive with news like that.
