I need help

Posted by Angela2 on November 7, 2013, at 11:47:28

I'm not exactly sure what to do. With my emotions, lol. It really hurts right now. I'm just trying to get over what happened. At my last job. I am an idiot. I wrote a letter (an email) to my former boss's boss, and sent it. telling him what happened. (I was sexually harassed and I went to my boss and she didn't do anything).

I feel terrible. I just want closure. I feel like sending the letter didin't help. I felt worse, actually, because it's complicated. And I sent another letter saying that she's a good person, my boss.

If anyone has anything to say, please don't let it be like, poor you , or "I can't believe this happened to you, so sad" stuff. I can't take the victim stuff. I need to be empowered. Thanks.

I need to know that it's going to get better.

I have anxiety and depression and have more time on my hands than usual.

I'll be ok. I am just in pain. I'll be ok. I'm getting support.

Hi Angela2:

The day I gave two weeks notice for a job I sent my boss's boss a letter by interoffice mail saying how inept she was and how the department was a disaster. The next morning my things were in a box and I was told to leave. A friend who still worked there said it angered them all the up to the top. The truly funny thing is due to my giving two weeks notice I am eligible for rehire. Not that I would work there again.

It will get better, believe me, working in a place that is threatening or stressing is not worth it.

I'm not sure I have anything to say that would allow you to feel empowered other than to tell you that you can make a new and better future for yourself, despite having made any mistakes in the past - as long as you learn from those mistakes.

What are you most afraid of?

Where do you think you will be a year from now?

Do you think you will need counseling to help you get through the trauma of sexual harassment? Is there any PTSD stuff going on?

It has been my experience that time has a way of healing and allowing for movement forward.

Did you do any irreparable damage to your ability to find another job? Probably not.

So you sent it and got fired because of it. Go for the gusto and find a lawyer that would take it on a contingency basis. It's worth a phone call.
Of course there's always the Joe Pesci option.
