facebook nut cases

Posted by Phil on November 4, 2013, at 10:44:20

I have 42 friends on fb 35 are blocked. A lady from my hometown is very sweet but maybe 3 times
a day it's: dear heavenly father...big prayer. I wanted to message her to ask if I should get on my knees. I was writing a lot and fire was flying off my words.
virgin birth? really? could you make that fly today? One 60 minutes interview would show the truth. human nature doesn't change. this went on and on but later I erased it.

Every two months or so a hoax comes around. fb has changed out privacy settings and didn't tell(how do you know then)change all your settings or we might not be friends. I posted 2 links that said it's a hoax. A lady posted later...thanks so much for telling me I'll go do it now. ITS A HOAX!!!

One of the classics...If you want jesus blessing forward this email to ten friends. We're friends bro, but are you really so stupid to believe that jesus will love you only if you forward rubbish of facebook? besides, he's not a member here.

phil i know you've been sick, you know when i found the lord(where was he)I'll pray for you.
Why? Everybody that says they pray for me my psychiatrist gets stupider. Well, I know your struggling with your faith. I'm not struggling, i've prayed and it gets worse. besides who do you pray to. the lard. have you seen him? No we go by faith. I know the drill. Technically I'm a christian. Submerged the whole deal. I know how it work but if I'm angry then I think he would rather hear my prayer than a mother thanking god that her kids rabbit lived after daddy ran over it.

50% of evangelicals in this country believe that reading the bible will cure mental illness. 33% of the others believe the same. I'm not good at math but i wonder how many of the nut cases have withheld medication and when their child died they didn't have a clue.

I use the "hide this post" button when smoke starts coming out of my ears. Responding doesn't do this Facebooker very well, as you can easily imagine. Other subjects I avoid too. I block only when I really want my privacy protected from an individual.
Otherwise, I love the animal memes and "are we old yet?" jokes.
I post my vacation pics, and the progress of my kitchen renovation. Otherwise, the speed with which escalations happen on FB makes us look like we take the stairs at Babble.
ha ha ha

FB is where I am usually at when home and done with ebay posting. When I see the hoax I just write spam. No holding your pointer over the persons name don't do a thing. I have all my family on their and their pics, and my pups. I think I have 217 friends? I've met some great folks there. No arguing there. And if I write something change my mind I can delete it. I clean my wall of old posts most every day. It's a fun place to be. A lot of babblers are there. Some who didn't stick around here for long. We don't discuss meds, religion nope. Just good fun. Funny. I can't get into facebook at all. I signed up and have a page, but it bores me to tears. I sign on like 3,4 times a year. I get friend requests all the time and ignore them. Only thing I like about it is that I get emails when a friend is having a birthday. Then I email them and wish them the best. The downside of this is that FB tell you how old they're going to be. Not so great when you get around my age.

You don't have to sign up with year of your birth I didn't so when BD it doesn't say age. I guess it depends who your friends are and if they are creative in picking posts to post. Lately a lot of political topics. But then we start conversations and share on timeline. So that is fun

It would be nice if there were more filters in the world. I've signed up for alerts on my local TV. And they beep me to tell me who is winning the game, or if there was a shooting somewhere in the world. When what I want to interrupt me from my work is to tell me that there's an incident on the interstate and it should be avoided on my way home. I don't need to know when a defendant has been convicted. I want to know if someone has broken out of prison and is in the area. I don't stop the notifications because I want the alerts, but I sure wish they had an option to *just* get alerts, not headlines.

It would be nice if Facebook would do the same. I don't really wish to hear about politics from my friends. That might affect my positive regard for them. And while I have no problems hearing about religion from most of my friends, there may be aspects I don't want to hear. Facebook robot scans everything we write for advertising clues. Why not scan items for topics we can choose not to hear about? It would at least give their nosiness some purpose. There could be a checklist.

I'd like to use social media to draw me together with others, not separate me from them. Well, theoretically at least. In practice I can't stop being appalled by the privacy practices. I think I may be just too old for social media. Or just too old fashioned or something.

In the meantime, maybe you could consider their statements as not really directed towards what *you* should do, as statements of what brings them happiness or comfort. If they have many other fine and useful qualities (to quote Thomas the Tank Engine), it's a shame to block them as friends because of one issue.

How's the wing? I don't always use just one reason because next is grandchildren and little puppies.

I'm leary of people that have hundreds of friends. Maybe that's not the right word. Not my bad.
One lady i've known since fifth grade started posting political stuff. She was posting so fast that I could't find anyone elses posts.

I got on fb for one reason, to keep in touch with friends that bailed from the amy forum. I'm not going to call Lithuania. :)
A few strays and the rest are from my home town.
I did get a friend request from a hometown friend yesterday. I'll look at it again in a few months.

I keep wanting to use it just to keep in touch with old high school pals. But I can't seem to keep a sustained interest.

It's odd but the people I was closest to and remained closest to don't seem to have Facebook presence at all. I can't help but think that isn't really a coincidence.

The arm's doing pretty good. I've graduated to not needing to use the swathe unless I want to, and I do twice a day exercises. I'm determined to heal quickly.

The vertigo is almost the bigger annoyance right now. I am not allowed to do anything until the doctor determines the cause. And my husband heard the prohibition. :(
