Just to put my two cents in, I'd like to say that Scott is my favorite Babbler.............to ignore.

And, PC, that is my recommendation to you.

Hmm...I don't feel I received any support or education from that post. Educating the community to ignore a specific poster, are you?

That shouldn't qualify and does not in my book. Not to mention the put down inherent in it.

The timing of this seems unusual. Are you pot-stirring for some reason?

Puzzling.

I hope SLS and PC keep talking.

I don't think I know Moishe.
Do I?
I rather prefer to keep things one on one conversation wise unless I missed something, um, BIG.
Thank you, 10der. And sorry for being the wild card, yet again.

Hostile. Cruel. Insulting. Stirring up conflict.
Does anyone moderate this forum anymore?

It really has. The feeling of the wild, wild, unmoderated west.
I don't know what to make of this, unless people have been taking the same meds I have. (Need some, er, tweaking.)

I feel better when I am not in conflict with PC. Perhaps some people feel better when they are in conflict with me.

I have not been injured too badly. Nevertheless, I appreciate your taking the time to scrutinize words.

I believe Dr. Bob mentioned that he was monitoring the other boards more closely than Administration. I think it is a matter of insufficient time.

Well who of us is, really? I guess sometimes you can be a little over analytical. But not likable? This is more your fear talking than reality.

I don't suppose you need me to tell you that I've found you quite likeable. In fact, I was telling my husband the other day that I think he'd enjoy your humor and view of life.

I don't know why anyone would feel compelled to share their negative opinions out of the blue = particularly in a situation like this where rapprochement had begun. I just don't understand that. I will say nothing more, except that I wish Bob were a bit less random. I never had an urge to live in the Wild West.

I think it would shock the hell out of you to learn just how little my cage is rattled by you.

Please don't post anything that could lead others to feel accused or put down.

More information about posting policies and tips on alternative ways to express yourself, including a link to a nice post by Dinah on I-statements, are in the FAQ:

http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#civil
http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#enforce

Follow-ups regarding these issues should be redirected to Psycho-Babble Administration. They, as well as replies to the above post, should of course themselves be civil.

Thanks,

Bob

PS: This block is the result of one action, but its length is the result of a pattern of actions. The block length formula:

http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#enforce

takes into account how long the previous block was, how long it's been since the previous block, and how uncivil the current post is:

duration of previous block = 1 week
period of time since previous block = 14 weeks
severity = 2 (default) + 1 (uncivil toward particular individual or group) = 3
block length = 2.32 rounded = 2 weeks

Hi, everyone,

I wish I'd been around when all this was going on. But it looks like you all worked this through yourselves.

I like the idea of being aware of the stories we tell ourselves. PC shared a number of examples:

> Currently I have a story that I half believe in, that is I am being bullied.

> I am dumb as a sack of rocks regarding most intellectual things.

> I will stay out of it.
>
> I know not many will even notice.

> the story I have been making up about babble is that my suggestions are not welcome, and more so, my presence is not welcome.

> I can't even tell my therapist about it. She will only be disappointed I came back.

I wondered how those "stories" got triggered. I agree with Dinah:

> we all are interpreting things in accord with what we each "hear", not what each of us "said".

What Scott posted was:

> > This place used to be a place I felt safe. Now I am ready to bolt.
>
> I'm sorry that you feel Psycho-Babble is no longer a safe place to be. You are probably right.

The story I'm telling myself is what he *said* was he also saw Babble as unsafe, but what PC *heard* was he saw her as weak:

> Gee, thanks for the vote of confidence.

> It is called PTSD. It is my main diagnosis. It is triggered by being slighted

PC talked about bolting, but I like how she stayed and reflected on what was going on:

> I have lashed out, because I wasn't able to as a child.

> I recognize a downward spiral when I am having one.

> my illness ... causes me to inflict pain on others before I am really aware I am doing so badly.

What she said about her women's group was interesting:

> I go to my support meetings Sunday evenings. It's the kind of place where, if you ask whether anyone there has ever been told grow thicker skin, all hands go up.
> If you ask whether any of us have suffered from social anxiety, all hands go up.
> If you ask whether any of us have been called cry baby, all hands go up.
>
> Kind of incredible. A room full of PC's.
>
> PC

It sounded like a refuge. Or similarly "unhappy dogs" (no slight intended) in a patch together:

> The ranger (a kind of sheriff for dogs and the homeless) had been round to his place and told him to keep his dog in/on his property.
>
> Each unhappy dog on his own patch. In Cusco people locked their dogs out of the house while they were out, and the dogs just lounged around in the street together.
>
> sigismund

That's not the model for Babble. Now, anyway, Babble is more like the street. And includes male dogs like Scott (and me). Posters can lounge around together -- or bark at each other. I agree with baseball55:

> The more we communicate and keep connected, the better off we all are.

Thanks for your input, Dr. Bob.
The women's Circle is what I think of as my Tribe. It's a very grounding meeting, yet in spite of feeling safe, each week we feel we are challenged. It stretches my brain, I know that.

My therapist said she wished there was such a circle for her to go to.

It is the kind of meeting that I never feel I have to drag myself to. I look forward to it every week. I always tell myself I will stay quiet, but I am quite the talker. If someone seems to be struggling with words, I try to help them.

When ever someone talks or relates a story, they can tell us ahead of time whether they want feedback from the group or not. It works really well in not agitating what might be a stressful time. Sometimes, it is good just to get the words out of your head.

How civilized to know that you can talk about something and not expect advice, if that is not what you want.

We do a show and tell if we have a good or an item that has helped up, and we pass that around. We also do a tell and tell, so that if someone feels like saying something, they can. It is the kind of group that really raises your spirit or energy, and has a lasting effect.

It is very good to want to get out of the house!!

Posters can also say here that they don't want feedback, or particular kinds of feedback (but not feedback from particular posters). It's nice to have some control over the process.

I think that some Babblers have suggested that in asking for a venting board. Sometimes the written word, with the caveat, "no feedback, please" can be awkward in a place like this.
Unless a poster specified their issue had to do with an off-board problem, people might be scratching their heads and questioning if they had done something wrong.
I'm just saying there would have to be a preface, like me writing about a support group I attend.
