Poetry $2

Posted by Phil on October 20, 2013, at 18:23:55

To have your presence acknowledged
Whether it's good or bad or worse
Is something we all need I think
A reality check when we're on the blink
From the snake swimming in the sink
A man embedded in the wall
And we make one last call
The message goes out to all
But no one cares it seems
And all of our silly dreams
Are now apathy pain and loneliness
She's in her wedding dress
No one shows and no one cares
No one cares at all.

After your last thread, which you flipped off as being merely slightly hypo manic, I cannot respond without feeling like I am giving bits of my soul into a great big abyss.
This is what you do to people who care for you?
I won't respond further, don't worry.

Bad judgement. Couple of bad posts after a pretty good record for ten years? Thanks for taking that into consideration after all of us have put up with Lou for tens of thousands of posts sometimes putting peoples lives at stake. I get ONE.
I do have a mental illness and I'm living it right now. The grass ain't so green where I'm at so remember where you're at. Don't take it personally.
Do you never flip out from time to time? So tell me, how many times have you seen me do this. I've had two blocks in my history here both over Lou.Maybe something is wrong..no, screw him he's an *ssh*l*. No I'm not and I never have been.
I do but edit a lot of posts. Sometimes I don't and I pay the price. But I see the hostility goes both ways. Except, believe it or not, mine was triggered by something my doc and I haven't worked out yet. I try. You jumped.
This has happened online to me before and I'm horrified when I realize it. I didn't read any of the posts above because I knew I probably screwed up. If I wrote it an hour later it would have been different.
**Who's permission do I need to get sick** and why do I have to write something negative to even get a response? A passionate, angry response. I feel like a kid getting a spanking because he has pneumonia.
I have flashes where I'll write something like this and then wonder what I was thinking. I don't know. I don't know. I posted the poem from another forum and didn't address my mistake. Read my other 15000 posts and show me ONE like this. Is that all you've got for me? Is that a compassionate choice or just reading into it what you want, don't ask because of course, this was all about you. You know better.
I sincerely apologize to you and all who posted. I'm sorry. I was wrong. No matter how this appears, this is a biological quirk that I don't understand. I've taken more meds than anyone on this board for thirty years. I will make mistakes. Sorry PC, I didn't mean to hurt anyone.

Your behaviour is not my problem. I didn't compare you to Lou. You not reading the supportive posts above, though, is saddening. That's what support looks like? Yeah, maybe Babble really IS broken. But not for the reasons you cited.
And making a mistake when someone else might have made many more is not a pass in my book. It makes someone less likely to receive support when they really need it.
Thank you for the apology. I will put it in the correct place.

Phil I didn't read the above thread but what the heck is wrong with this one? You merely to me are writing? Isn't that okay? To me it is. Later will read the above. Personally I like you and always will support you. As I realize I've asked here in the past for it and was ridiculed for it. So I answer threads. How are you? Phillipa ps I better add that haven't read it as yet as did respond on the thread just haven't read the further reponses yet.

I wrote that poem and put it on fb then came here and posted it before taking responsibility for the first thread. This poem looks like it was about this situation but it wasn't. I think my timing could have been better but I'm trying to make this right if possible.
This whole thing is my fault but I guess it's one more learning experience.

?

well, maybe i'm autistic but i didn't get any of that.

i liked your poem. i... don't really get the sentiment.

the one of being seen. the one of how the bride would feel. because i can't imagine anything worse than being a bride or otherwise the center of attention. perhaps because i don't get that feeling. i get shame... that nobody would come. i get that. and i don't know why people would put themselves through that. i guess the reward of being the center of attention must trump that. it doesn't for me. shame wins.

I'm not really a poet. I just get the first line and write. It's just for fun.

I don't know what it means but I just like the rhythm of it all.
Although, I have a friend that's a librarian and reads like crazy and on fb I just said treat it as spam. She said with prose like that spam us anytime. Maybe she was high.
I made my blog private because it sucked so bad.
If I had it to do over again I would have majored in English instead of seeing how many psychedelics I could do.

I write like that too, sometimes. I'm not sure how poets do it differently.

> I don't know what it means but I just like the rhythm of it all.

I sometimes feel like that about the stuff I write, too. I liked yours. I like reading peoples poems. Though I'm not sure I understand them a lot of the time.

> If I had it to do over again I would have majored in English instead of seeing how many psychedelics I could do.

Could you do it again? A paper or two... Did you do psychology?

I'm a bit dense right now. Not sure about a paper or two or if I did psychology. (it's just me, not you) But I did take one course in psychology and I'll never forget the prof, very cool.
I left an alcoholic household to go to school and had severe trauma and depression going on. No one really saw me leave. All I knew was addiction so when I got to school that's what I did.
The first time I heard Tracy Chapman's Fast Car I thought, finally, someone that gets it. As the tears rolled down.
Sorry, I know my thoughts ramble around.
Oh..I had a friend on the Amy Winehouse Forum named Jan-Peter. Don't remember exactly where he's from. Denmark? He rarely posted and we've been fb friends and I've never seen him post. He saw my poem and said that's a very good poem Mr Jordan. It means a lot, he's a poet. I can't even explain how that makes me feel.
But what I really feel is just so tired and at the same time, jumpy. Legs bouncing up and down. Last night I was sitting here with my laptop on my bass drum. From six feet behind me I heard hellooo, like is anybody home. I jerked my head around, it was my voice. I thought, this is going to be a long night.

Better late than never. Maybe it's selfish, but I'm glad you're posting here and not just on your blog.

Thanks Dr Bob. I made my blog private so maybe I could get a grip on what I was trying to do. Out of 134 posts I think the top five were good. Plus I was confused on how to get my blog to a bigger audience and when I figured it out I didn't want the larger audience to go, oh...wow.

Sorry about the mix-up. I am sharing my computer with some vixen today.

Q: What is it about your composition that you feel merits apologies and self-reproach?

Hi Phil,
I read and liked your poem. It energized me to post some of my own compostions once I go home and find them.
I have not posted them anywhere before but let a few select people read an occasional compostion-some are poems and some are songs and I know I wrote one in 2007 about having bipolar disorder if only I was not such a slob and could find my notebooks among the sea of papers on my floor (eye roll)
PB is a much more supportive site than the guitar forum I just got off of (and had to pay to belong to). It is full of great people and good advice with rare exceptions.

Hi Phil.

You inspired me to post a few words that I wrote many years ago. For some reason, I had an eruption of poetry and prose that lasted for a few months. I'm sure the motivation to write had something to do with women.

I came up with this:

---------------------------------------------

FREEDOM

Freedom to seek happiness. Freedom to settle for less.

If you feel less than free, then you are not free at all.

If you feel less than happy and fulfilled, perhaps you settle for mere content.

If you believe that happiness is not yours to have, you may never have it... although I assure you it waits for you.

If you believe that freedom is not yours to have, I hereby grant you your freedom... although it is not mine to give.

You must give it to yourself.

Thanks. I may have said already but a forum and now facebook friend who never posts saw this and said Mr Jordan you have written an excellent poem. I know he writes poetry and I wouldn't swear to it but I think he's an English professor. Whatever it made me feel good.
I love it too and I'm pretty sure it's the best I've written.
thank you!!!
