why do i have low response rates to my posts?

Posted by rjlockhart37 on July 18, 2013, at 23:24:34

im defintly a blogger, but really I will see a post with no responses I had posted couple hours ago....and then the one under it gets like 10 feedback posts....

well, is it just not really relatable? I'm thinking that's it...I do post stuff that's not really in social sync with others...and have to live with low/wierd reputation, well look at the good side....it makes you stronger, I alaways use the saying "im still here".

but really im just discusted with where I am, and im not saying babble, but there is no responses, its read by few people....and of course webbrowsers who google keywords in posts, rjlockhart is online identity...so if I ever had to be asked about my previous experience its all posted on the web....the importmant stuff....and the weird/out crazy stuff I've posted without thinking...

do anyone find my posts interesting? or lets see
1)Intresting
2)Annoying
3)Relatable
4)Non sense
5)bull
6)tolerate
7)makes you mad

add the numbers up you picked, and devide it by the first number and that will be the awnser....

Fairly early on I discovered a way of increasing my response rate (not each and every time, but the law of averages).

The more time and energy I put into responding to other peoples posts... Especially if I was careful to make it about them rather than about me... Especially if I could say something that showed them that I'd really been reading and thinking about their stuff...

The more they would respond to me.

Which is what made Babble fairly addictive...

For me, anyway.

that's perfect! I never thought of that....yea that does make sense, because if someone like me posts all the time about my own life and not consider others....yes, being considerate to others needs....giving to a relationship....

that is perfect, I can't believe I didn't think about that....

thanks !!

I wouldn't have put it like that.

Lots of my posts didn't get responses. But that was okay - I didn't particularly expect or even particularly want responses. I mean... I was happy enough to get responses. But that wasn't *why* I was posting them. I like sending some stuff to the wind...

But IF you particularly want responses for something... Then I found that strategy made responses more likely. And if I wanted a response from a particular poster (because I thought they might understand more because of similar experience or something) then I found taking particular care to respond to them was likely to help.

Of course things are tricky now, because of less posters. Less posters. Less posts to respond to etc...

really just to get support from other people, but the posts I post are not relatable to some people, close ended questions...

a lot of times trying to emotionally connect with someone is good....still there's a lot of stuff I say that really can irritate people, out of ignorance that I am saying it....not realizing it, do before think. So, relationships are something that I've tried to do, having a relationship....but they repeatedly fail, i run from problems, or people that shove problems in my face.....my brother and i had a good relationship but i had enough, i told myself i was never going take him rubbing my problems in my face....and it repeats itself with people i become friends with...they get annoyed with me after a while, thinking i have low common sense, so maybe the thing i need from people comes but it fails after time....people that care about me get annoyed with me after time....

but the bottom line out of all this, i help others, and maybe they could help me, but being ignorant of what i say without thinking....that's what hinders it....its a long annoying psychoanalysis....

Perhaps your posts are viewed like blogs that don't really invite people to reply, but are still being read. It's like you are journaling to yourself. As an experiment, if you should have a question to ask in the future, simply direct it to a specific person or the entire community without introducing too much commentary. Keep things short and simple. If you do have a comment without a question, perhaps you can think of it as a Twitter tweet. Limit the length of the post. Just remember, people might enjoy your tweets, but not have anything to say in return.

If you suspect that the people in your life become annoyed with you, do you have an understanding as to why? Do you know how to change your behavior to prevent this from happening? Would you want to?

I don't know what other people see when they interact with you. I see intelligence and kindness.

i know we all have a lot to say, but I, personally, get overwhelmed by longer posts...so I don't always read them. And I agree with the "being seen as a blog" comment.

thanks scott....twitter posts, or facebook posts...yea that would be much better, I browsed up at some other rambling posts, I write them, and then realize how out there it is..people my friends from the past lurk here....so, keep it clean, short, to the point, exactly

there's a lot of people I've met, it goes back to elementary school....I used to annoy people because thought it was fun...but got older stopped childish stuff....but my girlfriends mom can't stand me...I left a fan on upstairs and it was on for a week, and did stuff around the house that made her mad....its kinda like that....my brother....some of my family...

thanks for your reponse...

exactly...i think when i post these long rambling posts....that someone is seriously reading it as like a television show LOL but thats not the case...but i've seen posts from people couple times with a case of their situation, there was a time...this lady/man posted a long post about someone she took care of and said she took 40 1mg ativans....ill have to find that post, but she was coming in and out of reality....sleep, don't know if she took her to the hospital... another was a military post of someone who was in the army....ill have to find these, i just rerember reading them...

but for me, im 26, there's no major crisis, and its silly to just ramble for me....

I don't think it is silly for you to 'ramble'. I know, in my own case, it is an important thing for me. I work through stuff when I 'ramble'. Articulating it... Helps me to process it. Looking back... I look back through the archives sometimes and increasingly, now, I see just how far I've come.

You have memories of reading other people's 'ramblings' and it helped you. You identify with parts of it... And it helps you feel connected. I can't remember how many lurkers there are / were here. I remember being astounded at how many lurkers there were. Most people were appalled to think of all these people reading posts... Following along without posting... But I guess it depends on how you think of the lurkers and what they are doing.

I wouldn't at all be surprised if there are people out there who have followed you over the years. Not in a creepy way. But getting some comfort from your posts. From reading your articulation of... Life. Life as you see it.

I remember posters used to post sometimes. Some of them... Would just post an odd post or two and then vanish (to the best of my knowledge). Some people aren't particularly verbal / articulate. They can't write stuff down and get it out there that way.

You have a gift, dude. Really very impossibly hard to say why people don't respond... But I bet you have fans out there. I bet you do.

What's that?

What do you talk about?

CBT is not a globally effective treatment for mental illness. It is not magic for everyone. In fact, it is probably a complete waste of time for many. CBT helped me a great deal to help me recognize negative thoughts and perform reality testing. It is a top-down therapy, and doesn't always change core beliefs. However, it can produce results rather quickly. Many people use CBT as a coping tool to be employed until other types of treatment take effect. Once you learn the CBT technique, you can practice it on your own. It doesn't take very long to get the hang of it. Personally, I like an eclectic approach that combines CBT and IPT (interpersonal psychotherapy). I don't know what psychological traits make for a good candidate for psychodynamic therapy or psychoanalysis.

CBT was what they used when I was in rehab...its more like logic, equation stuff to life and behavior from how I see it....I never played along with it, trying to make my own therapies for me....

but what I discuss with my pdoc[psychology] is more biblical stuff....using scriptures, and other things, its a mixture of biblical stuff and psychology, but those 2 don't really mix well....there is a lot of mental disorders that are created on there own, maybe smaller portions are created from the Devil.....that's what we talk about....like spiritual warefare....but I am where of it, and try to make my own therapies on my own....psychoanalysis/dynamic where really good when I was a teenager....but they also where just rambling and didn't really make a point on the solution, kinda just like just laying in sofa and talking about random stuff....thinking, beliefs, CBT is more goal directed, and there's tons of other therpaies....

so right now, trying to figure out my own prolems and make them go away, and using the info I leanred to help other people.

yea....that's about it....

thanks scott
