Do you think you should tell t about smoking pot?

Posted by sleepygirl2 on June 12, 2012, at 17:21:19

I'm not sure why this is a question.
What do I have to mention?
I sort of feel like I am "in trouble" with my T and Pdoc.
I mean it's nice that they care, but I'm not really interested in making a big deal out of this.
My mood will stay the same.
I'll be 'out of it' for a while, and then I'll have to deal with reality again. Reality might really bite. In fact I know it will.
So, this is me facing reality, and it really sucks.

So, because I am an *ssh*l*, I called my t and told him that I'd been smoking, and that I am terrified to tell Pdoc.
and I'm thinking... God damn it, I'm an adult, wtf?
Why am I confessing this sh*t like there's something wrong with it. The problem, you see, is that I like smoking it whenever possible. Other things interfere.

I got hit pretty hard a few weeks ago. I got a surge of anxiety, and it was really uncomfortable, for a little while, I was almost agitated. I didn't know what to do with myself.
I dislike taking meds, but I took extra seroquel because I was so uncomfortable, and I needed to put a lid on it.
I was trying to get through it. I was so uncomfortable though.
This really bothers me. Why am I so anxious?? geez...
It can be so debilitating. I just know that I can't be high all of the time?? why not? methinks?
I guess anything is possible. You never really feel anxious because you just don't give a f*ck.

I think you should tell because
- cannabis may mix badly with your other medication and/or cause it not to be as effective.
- the fact that you feel you need to take cannabis shows that your medication regime isn't good enough (important for pdoc to know) and that your coping skills need improving (important for your t).

Taking cannabis doesn't mean you have failed, it means their treatment is failing you.

When I mentioned I might have been smoking too much pot my psych was quite clear in saying that I should not cut down too much too quickly. Not, of course, because it is addictive, but because he wanted to caution me about any assumptions I might have about the superiority of psych drugs. As it happens I hardly ever smoke it now. It just depends. It suits some people but not most.

???

How does this work?

*I realize your post was also about the relationships with your therapist and psychiatrist but that just seems way too complicated for me to think about right now.

Hey! I'm glad you enjoy it. I wish I did. At least I can get it.

I have always thought there should be someone who could teach me to enjoy it....sweat lodges, being lashed by vines, it doesn't have to be an indiginous solution.

On Sunday afternoons we used to go to a free feed at the friary. A place like that might be of help?

There's likely nothing wrong with it, certainly not anything metaphysical.
But is therapy an adult relationship? Is it re-parenting? (In respect of which I like what my psych said about it.) There is a lot of faith invested in psychiatry.

It really does suit a few people. Do you think it suits you? You know like, on the balance of everything, is it more good than bad and is it life enhancing?

I wouldn't worry too much about other things as such.

I had to read your post a few times before I understood it.
The two contradict each other, right?

I should probably just work on getting off the meds. It's what I've wanted for a long time. ...after the haze clears

Life enhancing? Yes, in moderation.

Thanks, papillon.
I'm not sure that meds are going to be the answer for me, but part of it anyway.

I just don't think it's a good idea as you don't know what's in it and isn't it illegal where you live? I'd definitely tell. P

It's just weed. It's definitely illegal.
I already told my t.
Did I need to? I still don't know.

I feel you should. Seems some of hippies the real ones ended up in hospitals from bad trips. Now this is probably from strong drugs but the pot could alter the way your meds work? Phillipa
