good ptsd joke

Posted by floatingbridge on June 3, 2011, at 22:04:07

Well my complete hiatus lasted long.

I'm reading "No Comfort Zone: notes on living with post traumatic stress disorder".

Marla Handy writes:

Why will there never be a "Race for the Cure for PTSD"?

Because the starting pistol would cause half the runners to hit the ground in panic.

I've always found listening to jokes very stressful. Perhaps I won't find them funny?

It requires a lot of thought to outwit something or someone I can't put my finger on.

Now I will have someone to talk to at 2am.

As the government ads say 'Be alert but not alarmed'. I'll be seeing my shrink on Monday. I might just throw in 'Do not mistake this farce for consciousness' and see what he says.

sigi, I instantly regretted 'good' just as I hit send. Sorry. A post on babble is a bell that can't be unrung.

Tell me what he says.

The be alert thing, is that your terrorist slogan. *sigh*

I get on a plane for the first time in four years. In Boston I had to strip down, bare foot in jeans and tee shirt. The guard asked me if I had anything else to take off. He behaved like an automotan. I really looked him like you're joking, right.

But Boston security. They were just humiliated and pounded after September 11th. They became a real hard *ss airport. One can see why.

They unpacked my son's stroller once, top to bottom and searched him (at two).

At three he still remembers the way the guard slam dunked his unopened
playdough into the trash before his little eyes.

These times have elevated humourlessness.

When I was a kid the cops just got heavy. I don't know what they used. But they didn't tazer the mentally ill or people who lost their tempers. I guess they bashed them up. See? Decline of standards.

That's like Assange. In many ways those releases showed US diplomatic people in a good light (good advice) and helped lead to the Arab spring (details from US diplomatic people about the Tunisian leader's wife's standing). That is immaterial it seems. It's like he was at an airport and spoke back to authority.

I dunno

I still haven't got over the fact that Gillard (ALP!!) denounced him. She didn't have to do that. It's like some poison in the air we breathe.

What happens tomorrow?

It's already tomorrow (2.48am) and nothing is happening here. Just as well.

I've never been fond of things happening. The less the better. That's why 3am is the best time of day.

I get on a plane for the first time in four years.

Besides the exhaustion, I am easily overwhelmed by stimulation.

I am also cranky and not as amiable to authority.

Airport here I come.
