I am stressed out from meeting people

Posted by Deneb on June 3, 2009, at 23:18:43

It takes a lot out of me. I'm stressed out. I think I just want a dog and not a partner.

I still have to go on some dates. I think I need a propranolol. :/

Ugh.

Both delightful companions, but not interchangeable. :)

I think maybe you just threw yourself a bit too wholeheartedly into dating. I often find socializing exhausting and need plenty of time between events. Maybe one or two a week would be sufficient?

I like Kath's ideas on where you might like to spend time IRL. If there's a group around there is less pressure on the romance.

Didn't you once belong to an astronomy club? Do you still go to that?

And yes, a dog. Dogs are great.

All I need is a pet and Dr. Bob

Relationships are too complicated. It is such a headache, very stressful. I think I will be happy with a loving, cuddly pet and the idea of Dr. Bob in my head. Seeing Dr. Bob every year for a weekend of fun along with Babblers will make me happy.

((((((Dr. Bob))))))) I luv you!

I haven't gone out with my astronomy group in years. I am kind of afraid to go back. I'm afraid they will judge me for not finishing my degree yet and still living with my parents.

I'm stressed out. I'm going to think back to hugging Dr. Bob. So comfy...((((((((Dr. Bob)))))))))

I said it was a goodbye hug, and Dr. Bob said something like, we'll see each other again, or something like that. So it is not goodbye.

I hope Dr. Bob wasn't worried I would get a goodbye hug from him and then throw myself off the Golden Gate like in the fantasy I had posted before.

Anyways, all my fears were unfounded. I visited the bridge with no problems. I'm perfectly fine. I hope it stays this way.

I'm sure your astronomy club won't judge you about that. First of all, it's nothing to be ashamed of. And second, I find that most people are much less concerned with my activities than I fear. As long as I'm polite and fun with them, they don't much mind other things.

If you go once, and find they do judge you (which I think rather unlikely), then you can decide they aren't people you wish to include in your social circle. But why judge them so harshly without giving them a chance?

Although I do see your point

Had I not met my husband, I would have probably achieved my goal of being the hermit my neighbors would refer to as the weird dog lady.

But I did meet him, and I'm glad I did.

By all means take a rest. And maybe there's no need to go out looking for guys. Are you going back to school next year? You won't be able to avoid them.

Oh, I don't think anyone will judge you. Why would you tell them that, anyway?

When I was 15 years old, overly shy and self-conscious, I received some of the best advice I've ever had.

"You wouldn't worry so much about what people thought of you, if you realized how seldom they did."

Kind regards,
Lar

P.S. I'm sorry I missed the fun in San Fran. I'm looking forward to N'orleans.

Hi Deneb,

I think you're getting stressed out partially because meeting people is stressful, but also that you're feeling pressure from your mother to meet Mr. Right. I didn't get married until I was 40 and never expected to. I was happy with my cat.

I say finish school, move out from under your parents' roof, get a dog and if you meet someone special it's an added bonus.

Thanks for the advice Poet. I wasn't planning on getting married anytime soon.

I have a coffee date tomorrow. I hope it goes well. He is 27 and has Chinese parents just like me. He is also in the same stage in life as me, still a student.

I am really hoping it goes well.

Look in the Mirror and say My name is "[anything]" walk out, pick up an image, quick personality. Get catch'n, get ready to look up because it's going up the latter to the sky.

The Law Of Attraction, only thing, can't be anything you can't "hold on", fall's off.

Write down aspect's of best personality, use the imagination to put it together, create a masterpiece. Serious. What i did. Then it begins to rotate, making it a live masterpiece. That's a true star. ;)
