My tutor said he got a weird email from me about sending money from Nigeria or something!

I tried searching gmail for a contact, but I don't know how to get to it!

That's a pretty notorious scam that has been around for decades - I used to get snail mail soliciting funds when I first worked in an office, even!

I think you could try sending gmail technical support an email (from a different email account if you have one) telling them of the issue. List your account information. They will likely want to delete that account and start you a new one.

It's an awful feeling - I'm sorry this happened.

I was freaking out really bad for a while and couldn't think.

I managed to calm down enough to think and I was able to fill out this form from Google for people who have had their accounts compromised.

They fixed it really quickly.

I'm sooo paranoid and scared now.

I'm changing all my passwords.

I used to get them all the time and added the free spyware none since until then I blocked each one I received but no one ever hacked mine. Phillipa

Try not to panic, from what I've heard of this sort of thing they just send out emails to people in your address book and try to sell something. All the ones I've seen have been very, very obvious as fakes to the recipients. My myspace account did it once, people started getting myspace comments from me about buying cell phones or something like that. It started by me getting a (fake) myspace comment from a friend of mine about cell phones. I didn't respond to it or actually even know about it until people started telling me they were getting these things from me. I changed my password and it took care of it. How in the heck it works I don't know, but they don't seem to do anything except send these annoying emails to your friends.

Jeez Deneb - so is everything about your account the same now except your changed password?

Makes me feel somewhat vulnerable!!!!
