Oh Dear .. Pls Join My Pity Un-Party?!

Posted by corafree on January 8, 2007, at 14:39:40

I'm all messed up!

I called for a peer support specialist and she said 'Generation X doesn't care about family!' when I had the flu so bad I thought I was was gonna' shake right outta bed, and none of my three children came over.

I'm so lonely I wanna' give up but hate the taste of all the pills!

Oh dear, I hope this feeling is not a generalized one going about, as I know how ya' feel Poet about goin' to job interviews. I hope it went well.

Man ... I've not felt so awful since I first moved here .. don't think .. that would be year and going on a half.

Today is the day my uncle that I was named after died in plane crash ... but I'm not thinking about that. It's nearing the day Dad died but I'm not consciously thinking about that.

The flu racked(?) my body and I just am whithering away all alone.

This computer is so dam* full of emails I've been afraid to sit down here.

Someone please feel sorry for me. Someone don't say 'oh it's prob' just all those pills you take'. And, pls don't ignore me like my children and fam, saying I need to get out, or I need to pull myself up by the freakin' boot straps.

I had 'one' person help me through the flu. Unowho. He said 'Well I guess it's just you and me' and it made him so happy, and it made me such a liar when I shook my head yes.

hearme, cf

Don't mind if I join you, do ya? I've been wallowing for a while here, pretty much from Thanksgiving until now. A sinus infection laid me low during December. etc. etc. My yoga teacher moved out of state. I haven't lost any weight. (I think you'll see that I qualify for a guest pass to your party!!)

And wouldn't a peer support group, in conjunction with psychobabble, be such a wonderful thing?

Nasal spray? Inhalation powder? Albuterol? I've heard scuttlebutt re: K-Pak but not sure what kind antibiotic? Maybe prednisone? My nose is having 'sympathetic syndrome', so think I'll go have a squirt right now.

>My yoga teacher moved out of state.

I'm sorry. This would feel like 'a loss' to me. I sometimes think I can't stand anymore losses! My daughter moved further away just @ Christmas. The best hairdresser I found in town stopped working. For me, feels like abandonment.

>I haven't lost any weight.

And think I've lost too much .. bad thing for me. Either way, it isn't good for our bodies/minds.

>(I think you'll see that I qualify for a guest pass to your party!!)

Oh yes ... let's comfort one another.

> And wouldn't a peer support group, in conjunction with psychobabble, be such a wonderful thing?

Pls explain. I'm so upset I can't think straight or crooked!

Forgot make/drink coffee! Maybe go put on pot.

Am deleting emails as fast as possible. There's a particular sender that I'd not easily recognize and don't have email address, otherwise I'd just wipe out whole dang thing.

Come Join Party Please .. It Won't Be Fun!(?)

Peer support group

I just wish I had a place to go where I could be with people who are the same boat as me. That's how I feel with threads on babble.
The internet, though, is a poor substitute for a face to face experience for me.

My therapist lent me a book called "Circle of Stones" that was meant to inspire me. Instead, its portrayal of nuturing groups (of women, in the case of this book) just made me yearn all the more.

I'm going to have a glass of iced tea. Would you care for one?

TY but I have coffee now ..

There is a phone number where I can speak to a peer support specialist (if one is available .. they are not always there), a warm line (just to talk w/ someone), and then of course a crisis line (sometimes if not busy will 'just talk' also).

I have gone down to a place here where there are seriously mentally ill peeps. That is what I am considered 'in the system'. God doesn't know why. I am actually a higher functioning person (I'm really not tryin' be a snob.). There were so many very very nonfunctioning peeps there that I felt a little out of place. To qualify for S*D one must be considered SMI here. Same there I wonder?

Corafree you know I'm always here for you. I agree with Clear Skies a support group in real life during the day would help so much. Other people that feel the same way without the severe dysfuntion you speak of. I've heard there is an Amotions Anynamous support group around the country but here it only meets one night a week at 7pm. I need something during the day. Any ideas? Love Phillipa

Being sick always brings me down. And antibiotics always seem to be a depressant to me. I don't know if that's in my head, but I know they make me feel bad. I wish some of us lived close enough to hang. But I guess that's what babble is for. I hope you feel better soon!

Check. I am maintaining the party atmosphere. I'm cooking for my step daughter tonight. It's a Greek menu. Purchased taramasolata, and an orzo & feta salad, with shrimp and oregano in a creamy tomato sauce.
There is plenty to go around...

Is there Baclava for dessert?

I actually completely forgot about dessert. I ended up serving some nice tea and that was it. Those poor girls, they got gypped out of a full meal.
It was a great night. I love being one of the girls (kind of, sort of, not really, I just listen in).

CF, how are you doing today?
I'm going to a yoga studio this afternoon to try out a new instructor. I hate doing this, having to meet someone new, and wanting both her help and to have my yoga practice admired. OK, so I'm not making any sense today. My old instructor had the nerve to move out of state over the new year.

My t and I spoke today about my social anxiety. I immediately thought of your thread here. I yearn for nurturing and support from a face to face peer group. I keep trying to insert myself into different places - a gym, a book club, a sobriety group - and every time one comes up short, I know that it's me who isn't fitting in.

Anyways, sorry to ramble. I hope today is a better day for you.

corafree,

Count me in. I'm always up for a pity party.

I hope you're feeling better today. I'm sorry to hear you've been sick. The flu is the pits! :(

I won't tell you to pull yourself up by the bootstraps. I promise. Usually when people tell me that, it makes me want to wrap the bootstraps around their necks.

I went to my 2nd support meeting last night and confess that I spent the entire time wishing I was home surfing the babble boards. So far I've found the support group experience disappointing. It seems 1 or 2 people always monopolize the meeting.

Personally, I've found psychobabble to be a far superior mode of support. It's free. It's always available. There is equal opportunity to post and respond. I've found everyone to be genuinely supportive. And I've gotten some excellent advice from this site.

I'm going to give the support group 2 more meetings to see if things gel. I hope you are able to get hooked up with a group especially if you tend to isolate yourself. It is very important that you do get out.

Regards,
happykat :)
