Please tell me

painting is easier than paint preparation.

Otherwise I've bitten off more than I can chew.

Yes, painting is easier and much more fun than preparation!

Hi Dinah,

Painting is much easier. Putting masking tape around where you need to paint, putting down drop cloths and moving furniture is the hard part.

Watch out for curious dogs. One of my cats temporarily became a calico when she got too close to the light brown/beige paint I was using. Good thing the paint washed off with water.

Perhaps she always wanted to be a calico! :)

Hi Laima,

She does seem jealous of her calico sister. You may be on to something.

Well then- it might have been premeditated! She saw an opportunity, and went for it. I wonder if it was as good as she hoped? Has her jealously intensified, or cooled a bit since the incident?

Ha Ha the thought of painting is to go to sleep. No motivation at all. Love Phillipa

Much, much easier. But good prep is the key to a good result, so it's worth the effort.

I've been scraping and scrubbing. :( And all over my head. I have *no* upper body strength. I hate exterior painting.

I fell asleep every time I sat down yesterday and woke up too late this morning to do my allotted painting time. Argh. And it has to be finished by next Monday. Or at least part of it does, so the next group of workmen can come.

Apparently this is a very bad age for a house. Everything's falling apart. My utility room sink faucet broke off yesterday right above the threads for no discernable reason at all.

Unfortunately this is a very bad age for Dinahs too, and I just don't have the physical ability to do everything that needs to be done.

Oh can I relate to that. And Dinah I'm much older than you. I couldn't handle the painting. Love Phillipa

Proper prep work is key to a good paint job. Or at least that's what my DH says. He use to paint houses in college. I should ship him up to you. I could use a vacation. :)

Fortunately I managed to turn painting the kitchen into a debacle early on in our relationship so now I've been banned from picking up a paintbrush altogether. :)

That's a bummer about the faucet. I hope the rest of the prep goes smooth. Good Luck! Happy Painting!

Regards,
happykat :)

Let me know if'n you want a large rubber stamp of a unspecified fish to add to your project. Lightly used. Hand carved.

Definitely easier. But I'm exhausted.

A fish stamp? :)

My primer's now done (for this part of the house anyway) and it's time to put on the topcoat. I hope the weather forecast for tomorrow is very very wrong.

My bathroom is decorated with a rubber stamp of a (life sized) fish. My step daughter carved it for me. It's so lovely, and I think everyone needs to have one!
Maybe not on the outside of your house, tho. :-)
