happy birthday

Posted by LlurpsieBlossom on January 1, 2007, at 19:32:20

to me

don´t feel bad, my mom forgets about 75% of the time.

12-27

yep.

back in the day, that was a good excuse to spend 12-24 through 1-1 in a drunken haze.

nowadays, it´s just a depressing opportunity to spend my day with a big group of people who have collective amnesia.

(my husband remembered though)

the ranch where we were staying served ice cream torte for dessert, and they didn´t even know that it was my day.

oh. you want some more baggage? my parents didn´t even know which day exactly was my bday until I got a passport at age 12. yeah. I celebrated on the 28th, or not at all... by the time the new years is over, and I´m another year older, most people are just so guilt-ridden and over celebrated that I would rather deny that birthdays are worth celebrating.

ice cream cake yum. that´s my favorite bday treat.

Happy birthday llurpsie. I dont think I ever knew your bday was that day, or I think I would have remembered, since it's so close to mine. Mine was the 25th. It really does stink having a birthday so close to all the holidays, huh? Even the people who are good friends/family/etc and generally caring tend to forget. At least that has been my experience. Your parents are obviously in an entirely different category though. I'm sorry. I cant imagine how hurtful that must be.

I'm sorry I didnt know. Want to share some bday cake with me? Mine is a little stale, but still good.

Happy Birthday.

Happy Birthdays to the both of you!

I'm bad at remembering any kind of dates. I get my mom's and brother's birthdays mixed up, and can't quite remember my anniversary. The engagement I recall, because it was September 10, 2001. My mom is no good at dates, and my sister is like the family diarist - she knows everything.

I would think that having your birthdays during an already festive period would be really disappointing. One thing the Latvian culture does is celebrate one's Name Day in a big way. Every day of the year has several names associated with it. So you get your birthday (with cake and ice cream) and then your name day, with even more cake and ice cream! Or whatever Latvians eat during these celebrations.
Hmmm. That would mean that if you know enough people with different names, that you could eat cake every day of the year. Sounds just about right to me!

it's hard having a birthday between two BIG holidays!! but you don't get to skip it - you still get to turn one year older and eat cake and ice cream.

Happy Birthday LlurpsieBlossom!

((((((((((((LlurpsieBlossom))))))))))))))))

My parents forgot about me birthday in Dec. too so I had a birthday celebration in Babbleland.

In past years I would have been upset, but this Dec. 7th I was OK with it. I remember one B-day (I think I was 19 or something) I told my parents I wanted balloons for my birthday, no presents, just balloons. I was sooooo disappointed when I didn't get them. :-(

I'm glad you had some yummy dessert on your B-day.

((((((((Llurpsie's hubby))))))))) for remembering

Happy Birthday, lurpsiedoodlebug!! (is it okay, if I call you that?)

Sorry I missed the real thing. Now I have it marked in my calendar for next year, though.

I hope you're still celebrating. :) Maybe karen will get you that ring she's always talking about. Oh wait a minute, she thinks she's the one who's supposed to get the ring, doesn't she? Well, you tell her *I'll* get you the most beautiful ring she's ever seen and see what she thinks about that.

Lots of birthday hugs to you!!

Laurie

Thanks you guys

You guys are so cool. psychobabble birthday parties are the best ;)

i continue to celebrate twice a day with ice cream, or helado, as they call it here.

my husband continues to buy me presents daily. we are doing our very best to support the economy of Uruguay. Today I got 4 prs of earrings. a necklace. and a bubble bath.

and a mixed grill consisting of

grilled sweet potato
3 steaks
2 beef from rib origins
2 pieces of unidentifyable organs (thymus and pancreas, I believe)
half a chicken
3 pork chops

and that was just the appetizer!

(hahaha)

NOOOOO room for dessert. and when I say that, it´s SERIOUS.

ciao for now. tomorrow off to buenos aires. We´re gonna eat more beef. bife chorizo jugo. that means rare loin steak, cut about 20 oz thick. eat your heart out. grass fed, roaming happy cattle (we met many of them on our stay at the ranch)

nope not anemic by any shot. I even walked into a pharmacia today and correctly ordered pseudofedrine and expectorante for our colds. (husband and I got matching rhinovirusus for New Year´s AAAAAchOOOOOooo!)

ciao ladies and gentlemen.
wearing her cowboyboots--

i'll create a poem for lurpsie, linden, and all her alter egos....

lurpie's special day,
i missed along the way.
i hope that she will stay.
and not just throw this poem away.

lurpsie's a special gal.
don't ask me how.
she chews her food like a cow.
then turns to take a bow.

lurpsie likes to change her name.
as if she thinks it's a game.
she thinks me to be a little lame.
and dances like that chick from fame.

lurpie's out partying somewhere.
and i bet she has flowers in her hair.
when she's naked on the beach, everyone will stare.
and she doesn't know i'm there.

lurpsie is one year older.
and she's jsut getting bolder.
she's a good laundry folder.
and has freckles on her shoulder.

(((lurpsie, linden, and her other 316 personalities)))))

(((and especially her 'old man' and that wonderful vacation))))))

and listen girlie. the next tiem you wish to announce your birthday, do it about 3 weeks in advance and post everyday a countdown. that way, weak minds like mine won't ferget!

love you lurpsie, you lucky booger. wish i was frolicking on the beach naked somewhere. lucky people on the beach too. seeing you naked without paying the $3.99 the rest of us have to. you need to take that webpage down already. have you no class?

can't get enough attention without involving me, eh? of course, you just have to bring me into every conversation you have. (btw, i'm mentioning you to all the newbie posters. telling them how cold-hearted, conceited, and weird you are. am also warning them to stay far, far FAR away from you. you can thank me later!)

and i jsut have to say this...... your son is a close (not too close of course) second to the most beautiful boy ever. of course, he can't live up to my duckie's ahndsomeness. but, he's very close. you're a very lucky duckie ad. not just to have me talking about you all the time, but also to have such a beautiful boy. are you certain he's yours?)

now, quit your talking about me now! cease and desist! or, you may have a lawsuit on your hands. oh, did i mention my husband's damn near 7 feet tall. you've been warned. he'll have no problem hitting a female if i tell him. you better start being a good girl! or you may be in for a world of hurt!)

We all thank you from the bottom of our 3 chambered hearts :)

archived until the end of time. Dr. bob likes to save this stuff. funny habit huh? some would call it ´compulsion´´...

> lurpsie's a special gal.

oh no, I blush. but yes, I have been accused of chewing like a cow. at least twice. once was by a woman that barely met me and wanted to set me up with her son.

> lurpsie likes to change her name.
> as if she thinks it's a game.

you so NOT lame. I dunno, is one of your legs longer? I change my name whenever my skin has exfoliated enough to make me look and feel like a new woman.

well, I hope you like the view. I´m a little plump, you know? but that´s okay. in some regions of the female body plumpness is appreciated. i got a branch stuck in my hair when my horsey took off galloping through the forest. does that count? I´m allergic to sun.

bolder and better. got my hydroquinone and alpha hydroxy to fade all freckles. determined to have 27 year old skin for the rest of my life.

thanks! hugs to you too, and your family :o)

I know. well, I suck. but that´s okay. I didn´t have internet from the 23rd to the 29thish. I yelled as loudly as I could, but.. well, you know

I got so many boogers now, from the cold. every single noseblow is luckier than the last one. I don´t much get naked in public. Interestingly, folks here don´t get naked on the beach. I´ve done the naked thing on 2 continents, but not this one.

you know, you shouldn´t spend too much time looking at that webpage. it might change your standard of beauty, and you might have to eat more pie to compete with my voluptuousness. the 3.99 is to fund my education, and pay for my crazy pills. Don´t forget that maintaining my sanity costs about 10 bucks a day. not including chap stick.

you´re the silliest. your poem is so cute

I haven't read the rest of the tread yet, but I wanted to say a belated 'Happy Birthday' Lurpsie! Last year everyone forgot mine. My mom didn't even call (which has never happened). She did call the next day, so I can't be too hard on her. It was just weird that no one remembered. But luckily I admitted the lack of good wishes here and got a plethora of them.
