need good new music--recommendations?

Posted by mike99 on February 24, 2006, at 18:16:31

I need to find some good new cd's. The last couple I really liked were Coldplay, Madonna and the Killers (each of their newest releases).

I'm looking forward to the following releases this year:

the Killers (august?)
Red Hot Chili Peppers (May 9)
Radiohead (??fall??)

Need something else good to listen to in the meantime--an entire album not just a song--any suggestions?

What I've listened to the most lately, is The L*bertines by The L*bertines. It's a year or two old, but new to me.

It's probably closer to Killers on your list, but looser and more meaningful lyrics.

And yes, it's the band that Pete Doherty (Kate Moss's) boyfriend used to be in, but it is still the best thing I've gotten into in years.

Haven't heard Sisko. What are they like?

Yeah, Madonna's somewhere in her 40's. Despite all the Kaballah stuff and her acting mishaps, I've got to give it to her--she still puts out good stuff. I'm generally more into rock but her last 3 albums have been pretty solid.

Rolling Stone had an article that Axl Rose is claiming to once and for all put out "Chinese Democracy" this year---under the name of Guns n Roses---and this will allegedly be the most expensive album ever made.

Axl has been claiming this for about a decade, so I'll believe it when I see it, but it will be interesting to see what it's all about. Axl says it's very influenced by Queen.

I had high hopes for Velvet Revolver, but they just didn't do it for me.
