Don't know what to do with time

Posted by orchid on October 23, 2005, at 21:23:50

I have resigned my job, and there is absolutely no work to do!!.

I have plenty of time.. And I don't know what to do.

IT is only been two three days, and already I am getting bored out of my mind.

If I were to quit my job and stay at home I would:

read all those books I've been meaning to
clean out cupboards and closests for a garage sale
buy some new cookbooks and experiment
Rearrange the furniture
get a puppy
volunteer someplace

Go to Barnes and Noble and get a big coffee and just spend time reading all my favorite magazines. ( i guess you can tell I love to read, lol)

How about learn a music intrument?

What are your interests?

Maybe you could join an exercise class. a painting class. some kind of class you like.

Or volunteer somewhere you would want to help people.

I hope you find what you're looking for.

I'm still inviting all of you to come and pack and help me move. And we need someone to drive one of our cars from the NC beach to Charlotte six hours away. Any volunteers. It definitely wouldn't be boring. Love Phillipa

hi Orchid,
here is a list of fun things I've always wanted to do!

Buy 10 novels by new authors or award-winners and read them all

Go visit places you've always wanted to see, and take your camera (the zoo? Nearby botanical garden? etc.)

Write a short story and send it in to publishers just for fun

Write a poem

Sign up to volunteer at a woman's shelter or soup kitchen for at least one day

Visit all the local art museums. Bring a small notebook and make a list of your favorite paintings and sculptures. Back at home, look up your favorites, then go back and view the works again with your new knowledge.

Rent & watch 5 movies we're all "supposed" to see...the classics. Watch them while eating lots of popcorn & snacks. :)

Sign up for classes at the local community center - something like stained glass work, watercolor painting, etc.

If there is a subway near you, pick one line and spend a week getting off at EVERY STOP on the line. Take your journal and write down your experiences - who do you see, meet? (Could also do this on the bus.)

Visit 5 different Starbucks in the area, order the same thing, and compare the quality. Send your synopsis to friends.

I hope you're enjoying the time off!

Paint the walls of a room that is boring you...and when you're done with that, move onto the next room.

The new color will cheer you up too!

Well I myself love shopping, and that was a cool suggestion to see! :)

For me, even grocery shopping is fun. Maybe that's why my pantry is full of way too much stuff...
