vision and emotion

Posted by Eddie Sylvano on August 26, 2003, at 15:55:28

I've worn glasses for twenty years (since I was 10), and am going to get contact lenses next week. It got me wondering... could the change from a world view obscured by dirty lenses, fuzzy peripheral vision, the constant presence of my frames in my field of view, and the pressure on my nose and ears also affect my mood? People weren't meant to wear glasses, so it reasons that my brain would be a little happier au natural. Anyone else make the leap to contacts? I just hope I can tolerate them well enough to use them.

Let us know! Although I have an incredibly touchy eye relex (she almost can't measure the pressure), so I have no idea how I would ever put contacts in...

I love my glasses. I have the sort that changes grows darker in light, and even inside they provide some illusion of hiding.

My eyes are the really pale sort - the palest sort of grey. All my cousins with that color eyes can not tolerate either sun or contacts.

If they ever make the eye surgery list of possible adverse outcomes less scary, I'd be interested in that. But I'd still probably wear some sort of tinted glasses when I left home. :)

My eyes are grey, too.

From what I've read, many of the newer lenses have UV protection, and can be had in various shades. I'll probably get a plain pair and finally buy some sunglasses. I never could justify buying prescription sunglasses, and always disliked the clip on variety.
