's name is aurora. Honest...long ago, maybe before you both of you came here there was a sick kitty who needed an operation named Zorra who is now safe and well ...see archives... all of us pet "owners" wrote "get well" letters in “kittyspeak”—i.e. often signing the letters with our pets names for "peer" support.

I am feeling totally nuts at the moment and am lonely as hell.

I felt even worse with that post to become a fiancé to an almost divorcée- does that ring a bell???

Bob bans you for being "uncivil" and/or rude...someone jyl, i think---made up the concept of self-banning. When I am feeling a bit manic or stricken with panic, I do not usually write aside from trying to help others when I see the need. This way I don't make a fool of my-self like I am doing now. I only use the pen name of Aurora my cat and friend, constellation and Greek goddess to other pet lovers.

gonna call doc in am for an sos appointment just for him to tell me I am fine but a tad upset...the bummer is, I know it will be wasted $$ in co-pays already, but feel I need to do it just to feel more certain of being certain that I'm ok...

You're not feeling well, so you're misunderstanding our posts. The ruse or hoax being referred to is about the new poster, RoxyG,
who is apparently not a new poster but a poster who was previously blocked.

Still, there's nothing wrong with taking a break from PSB if things are getting too intense for you. Just don't think that anybody wants you to leave, because we don't.

Tony -- we didn't mean anything about you at all! Sorry, it has to do with people getting blocked and then creating a bunch of new identities on here to get around being blocked. Fayeroe and some others of us are just suspicious because it's been happening here a lot, lately.

But not you!!! We know Aurora is the brains, and you are presumably the beauty :D

Tony,

For what it's worth, I'm a newcomer and I figured it out as well, and I understood completely.

I thought what you said to WhiteRabbit a few days ago regarding her "Neurotic Mate" want ad was one of the most endearing posts I have ever read on the board. Gosh, I, too, identified with White Rabbit's post so much that, save for the smoking* part, I thought someone had posted my own thoughts from about five years ago - when I was in a similar situation.

It's hell to be lonely, if you're physically alone, or in a crowded room full of people.

You said: "This way I don't make a fool of my-self like I am doing now."

Well, I don't see you as a fool now or in any other post of yours that I've read.

What I can see, from your words, is a kind and sensitive individual who seems to have an enormous heart and a lot of empathy for the world (and a nice well-spoken cat ;-) Oh yeah, and someone who mentioned T.S. Eliot last night, which sent me in search of my favorite poem, which always makes me feel better after I read it a few times.

So, there you have it. Take care. I love your posts.

*I'm not an anti-smoker, I just saw that as the only difference in descriptions White Rabbit reeled out so eloquently.

I used to post under my dog's name as well ("Valentine_Dog") on another board.

I found her on Valentine's day six or seven years ago, shivering by the side of the road (probably looking for the stinker that dumped her there). We call her Val to save breath on syllables.

I felt honored to "bring" her to the internet (since she so faithfully stays by my side in her little bed while I spend hours on the computer).

My little "baby" is part Beagle and probably part Retriever.

Pat, I love Boxers (I've had two in the past) and I would love to see your dog's butt (and head). There's no other dog that turns my head like a Boxer. Just yesterday my husband ran down here to tell me a Boxer won some award on a dog show.

Have you seen "Best in Show?"

Oh how I love that movie . . . every time I watch it I find some new catch phrase to add to my vernacular.

On another note, thanks for your input on the aging subject. I just realized I hadn't replied. It sounds like you are in a peaceful place with all of it and it gives me hope that my day will come as well!

Maybe my husband and I are just weird (well, that's a definite, not a maybe!) - but we were laughing so hard during that movie that it was almost that embarrassing kind of "laughing in church" situation. The movie had been out for a few months and there weren't many people in the theatre, so I suppose our cackling was even more evident.

THEN, when we were walking back to the parking garage we started talking about different scenes and we started laughing again, so hard that we we both had TEARS running down our faces.

It's one of those movies that grows on you. This ensemble of actors have (or is it has? oh no). Okay, start over:

This acting ensemble has done other satirical films - "This is Spinal Tap" (I haven't seen it - my husband loves it), "Waiting for Guffman" (funny, but not as funny IMO as BIS), and now they have a new one that's just come out, "A Mighty Wind," about an aging folk singing group. Roger Ebert gave it kind of a snotty review but we'll still probably see it in the theatre based on BIS.

O.R., your dog's screen name of Pugnacious O'Reilly wouldn't imply that she's a pug, would it? If so, I love pugs, too. Our family has an affinity for dogs with round heads and smashed in faces (and yes, we have looked like our dogs - Boston Terriers, Boxers and English Bulldogs) - well, at least my father and I do, d*mn it!

I just looked up Confederacy of Dunces on Amazon. Perhaps, if I can reel in my attention span I'll give it a whirl.

One of the last books I've read (that wasn't a "self-helper") was "Dancing Naked in the Mind Field" by Kary Mullis - who won a Nobel Prize for the invention of the polymerase chain reaction. It kind of reminded me of "a surfer's version of 'A Beautiful Mind'"

I've been thinking of starting a thread asking people to recommend either one of their favorite books (general) or their "favorite" self-help book.

I suppose that would belong on the book board, but this would be more of a poll, not a book club venture.

LASTLY, to Pat (and O.R. since you've read "Confederacy of the Dunces" and there's some kind of symbolism with hot dog stands) . . .

A hot dog stands reminds me of one of my favorite jokes of all time, which I will share, since I have the perfect lead-in:

Q. What did the Tibetan monk say to the hot dog vendor?

A. Make me one with everything.

Oh boy, does this mean the latest wave of depression is lifting??? I've been talking about one of my favorite movies (which gives me an inner smile), dogs (which make me smile no matter what), T.S. Eliot (last night - thanks to Sailor/Tony) - AND NOW, my favorite all-time joke.

Yes, I would gladly pay a membership fee. This is the time to start the phone banks, Dr. Bob.
