It's best to keep it to myself

Posted by jammerlich on August 10, 2008, at 16:05:19

It honestly is. My long lasting friendships are the ones where I've kept my secrets (and all the things that go with them) to myself.

People say "you can tell me anything," "I'm not going anywhere, no matter what," and "I'm here for you even if you don't always make the best decisions;" but, no one has ever stuck to it. Ever. Yet, I've still let myself be gullible again and again. NO MORE!!!

It sucks to have people out there with your secrets who aren't a part of your life anymore. Jammer is now a vault. Any secrets untold will die with her. It's for the best. Really.

-----Gosh I'm really sorry you've not had success with people and secrets. Me either. :o(

Maybe when people tell us "You can tell me anything" it's like when people ask "how are you today?".... they don't really want to hear all about how we are... just a quick response "Oh I'm fine"..... maybe that's what "You can tell me anything" is too...... they want simpler things like, "I find hardware stores boring"--

not involved things like "I hate hardware stores-- think it's because when I was 3 years old my much older brother took me at night and put me through the bathroom window of a hardware store and had me open the side door....then brother stold and the next day neighbors were saying how there are such horrible people to break into a hardware store... they were talking about me." :o(

guess most people don't care to hear the secret to the not liking hardware stores.... I try to keep things simple now....

hey, you can always share here or PM me.

wishing you peace

Interesting theory. I'd never looked at it quite like that before.

I guess I've always thought that too many people are inclined to promise without really thinking. My personal motto is to never promise more than you can deliver and always deliver more than you promise. I mean, you're only as good as your word, right? Apparently that belief is not as widely held as I used to believe.

west coast good wishes and only an e-mail or call away. what do you need right now? what do you want right now? can you find a grain of faith to cling to during this time of feeling how you are? holding hope for you even if that seems absurd in any way. you came up in conversation today as matter of fact....to friend here in town and we both were thinking as much goodness your way (and to other family members out there) as we could muster....held y'all in our hearts.

offered kindly w/o any pressure,
hussy

and to mandy....gosh about your brother and of course you don't like hardware stores! thank you for sharing that here and now. wish you didn't feel badly for something that was 100% *not your fault*!!! take care.

----Yeah, I'm told quite often how my views are different and how people hadn't thought of things that way....*shrugs*.... guess my way of thinking is out of the ordinary.....

--- I think your obesrvation of this is quite accurate.

> My personal motto is to never promise more than you can deliver and always deliver more than you promise.<<

---That is a good motto and an admirable one however, not all people think the same and so some, maybe many, won't have this wonderful motto. I think if we expect people to be same as us that's when we get let down-- expectations can be ones enemy sometimes......

>> I mean, you're only as good as your word, right? Apparently that belief is not as widely held as I used to believe.<<

---- Yes, I totally agree and it's sad that it's not so "widely held" as you say.

wishing you peace and comfort,

----- You're welcome(this -- just the tip of the iceberg... been told it's a wonder I'm even still on this planet :-o ...)
and thank you, I'm working on not feeling so guilty..... it's a tough uphill battle but with this most wonderful T. I have now-- I think I can do it... I think I can.... I think I can... :o)

wishing you peace and comfort,
