let 'it' go

Posted by obsidian on January 2, 2011, at 22:23:17

you see my friends....
all you need to do is just "let go" of "it"
whatever the ineffable "it" is

"Just let it go."

"I've seen him once in 20 years", I say, just to bring it home to him.

"We are just going to go, and be there."
Ah, I think, just a casual trip then.

"I am basically going to see my estranged father, the one I haven't seen in 20 years, because he's dying right? That's the gist of it right?"

"Yeah."

I'm calm as can be of course. We are just figuring out how to divide the travel costs. I did this on trips before, car rentals, hotel rooms, etc.

a not so simple task of accounting
or accountability

do you say "When you.....I felt....."?

does it matter?

When it started I emailed my aunt.

"Tell my father that I wish him well."

and then, yesterday,
there was my mother...

"Which one of these rings do you want?" she says.
(one of the two gold and diamond ones she had on her hands)

"I don't know what one you'll want."
(translation: you'll get one when I die)

"I don't want either. Those are yours, not mine. Stop doing that." I say.

my, oh my....
really?

I've read this at least a half dozen times since last night. It seems so complete that it should be left to stand alone but then I worry that also seems to leave you standing alone. Do you want dialogue? Or have you said what you needed to say?

Quite honestly Jane, I do not know what to feel about the whole thing. I am telling it like a story because I just feel like I am watching it from the sidelines.
I can't contemplate the whole thing. What story is this? Whose is it?

I don't think I should feel anything about this, but I don't know how other people might feel.

I guess I want to know how that post came across??

Hi Sid
My 10 cents worth

It is a story. About a family. About a family about to close a chapter... ready or not. A family with painful tragic sections.

It is your family. It is not your family.

It is vomitting on a roller coaster not knowing which way to turn.

At least that is how I read it

It came across as being very well written.

Not only that, but that was what I first thought.

Thanks for the feedback. You make sense, and that's good because I can't seem to find it.
Sid :-)

Thanks. At least I can do something with it. :-)
