Hey there. Just wanted to check in and see how your day was.

Would love to hear how it went/how you're doing.

You totally made my day, WIP :) Thanks for asking about how it went. I actually posted a response yesterday (or thought I did) but it seems to have disappeared into the ether.

First of all, I passed my defense! I was sent out of the room while my committee "deliberated." My advisor came out afterward, gave me a big hug, and told me, "Congratulations, Dr. Onceupon!" which had a decidedly nice ring to it :)

I called my T and left a message shortly after I finished and had a moment to myself. She sent me a congratulatory e-card later in the evening, which was really sweet. I had a fleeting wish that she would have returned my call instead, as it would have been nice to hear her voice, but I was still really appreciative of her thoughtfulness. All in all, I was caught off guard by how much this whole defense process (and finishing grad school) has been bringing up for me. Lots to talk about with T next week.

I also ended up going out to dinner with my husband and son to celebrate briefly, which was nice. And then after my son went to bed, met up with a few friends, which was nice and low-key. It was a wonderful day :)

I'm so glad!

I can understand why it would bring a lot of feelings to the surface. It's a major life changing event.

Congratulations! It is a huge accomplishment so you should feel proud of yourself. I'm glad you had some sort of celebratory dinner as much as you wish you kept your therapy appointment.

I hope you printed your t-'s e-card (if that is even possible). That was so thoughtful and kind.

Giant exhale. One big leap forward towards the future.

Hey there Onceupon!

You're welcome! I'm glad I could brighten/make your day- it is SO nice to be noticed and thought about isn't it? It often surprises me when I find someone has done so for me, but I think it happens more than we think!

I remember being so surprised when my T said she thought about me outside of my seeing her. She said how could I not, we have a relationship?

Anyway, congrats Dr. Onceupon... and I'm so glad all went well!
