I let my pdoc down

Posted by Deneb on July 14, 2009, at 23:06:11

I have a list of things to do, but this past week I did nothing on the list. I volunteered and it was more tiring than I had anticipated. My pdoc asked me how many hours I volunteered and I said about 4 hours a day. I get there early to eat the free food and enjoy a concert though so it takes about 6 hours not including travel time. She said I should be able to do more in a day. She asked me what I did during the rest of the time. I told her I was usually sleeping.

She thinks the Risperdal might be too sedating for me so she reduced my dose. Anyways, I feel like I let her down. I need to do more in a day. I think I'm just lazy.

I think she thinks I'm lazy. I sleep a lot, like 12 hours a day. She says that is not normal.

I think I let her down.

You didn't let her down. She asks questions in order to determine how you are doing as far as sleep, activity, feelings, etc. After talking with you, she thinks your dose might be too high. You have no control how medication affects your internal operation.

Volunteering is always a GREAT thing to do!

Sounds like your p-doc would like you to enjoy other activities afterwards.

Sweetie: You aren't there to meet HER expectations........You are obviously doing what you are capable of; how does your pdoc know you should do MORE?!

Love, Sassy

Don't know Deneb didn't you say you'd gone down on the med on your own? If not sorry but do you miss school? Maybe also a physical with your gp? Phillipa

I'm having a lot of fun volunteering. I'm volunteering at Bluesfest, a huge music festival. I'm working in a beer tent. It's hard work, but it's fun.

Pdoc thinks I can do more with my day. I made a list of things to do. I want to walk 30 mins each day, clean my room for 30 mins each day and apply for 3 jobs a week.

Pdoc thinks I can do more in a day. I dunno, volunteering takes up a lot of time.

It was pdoc's idea to reduce my med. She thinks it is too sedating for me.

Just keep an eye on yourself, Deneb. If you find your emotional stability starting to slip, let her know, ok?

Doesn't sound like you are letting her down, she just sounds concerned that she has you on too many meds... and if you need 12 hours a day thats a good indicator that you might be on too high a dose.
