as usual. scared of T

Posted by llurpsienoodle on May 16, 2008, at 9:33:59

Scared to go to therapy. Scared of T.

I hate this relationship. It's so fraught with peril. I show him a tender spot in my psyche, and hope that his prodding does more good than harm.

He kind of jabbed at the sensitive spot as I was wrapping up my session on Tuesday. Now I have to go in and show him the booboo. I intend to show him though. I don't care if it's in poor taste. screw taste.

Shostkovich Str. Quartet #3 1. Allegretto op. 73

which is also fraught with peril, but ends with a cute little flourish.

I'm wearing my armor today. makeup. but not mascara, in case I start crying.

Good luck today. Remember that your T is not your family - thank goodness, eh? I'll be thinking of you.

Li remember the Nike Logo Just Do It!!!!! I know you will do fine. If it's the money bring a check for co-pay and ask if you can add $l0.00 maybe a session to that check to pay off the balance was thinking about this and I did it with a pdoc. Love Phillipa

I got to say what I needed to say. He apologized for the flippant remark about copays and "me doing my homework"

Then we talked about what an awkward subject money is. Then we talked about how I don't feel entitled to spend money because I'm not earning any. That's tricky stuff.

Then, amidst much shame, we talked about me cutting myself. He was genuinely curious, and even asked "what do the people on the internet have to say about cutting" yep. that's right guys. my T was asking you for your expertise! He asked if he could see my cut. And he came close enough to look. He referred to it as a scratch and then asked what the implement was (an exacto knife) "do you ever think about cutting deeper?" every time, I'm afraid of it.

Then the subject turned to my lack of losing control in the session. About how I may as well be calmly telling a story over lunch, but not actually allowing T to enter into my emotional state. He said that I rarely "emote" in session. I told him how scary it was to lose control and show emotions, because of bad stuff in my past.

Then he said all these nice things about how competent I was blah blah blah... I told him that they were bouncing right off of my self-loathing heart. bounce! BounCe!

then it was time to go.

Sounds like so much happened in a short hour - yet at the same time not very much in depth. A real teaser. I hope you're feeling OK about it. I don't know how I would be about having an injury referred to as a scratch - perhaps he's trying to deflect the importance of it?

Really good that you went face on on the finance stuff and also the SI stuff.
