started with a mT

That's marriageT.
She was nice, had a few insights. Like maybe one of the reasons why I feel so ill-at-ease at the inlaw's is because their family is so "functional". I just like to stir up trouble to make myself feel at home.

She did ask about my mental health though, and I was feeling all fragile and weak and started crying LOTS. I haven't cried in therapy in a long time :(

She asked me if I was ready to work with my currenT (a man) because of the violence in my background. I said I was, but I don't know anymore. What if I'm not ready to work with a man. I feel like not much therapeutic has happened in that room in a while :( Clearly there are still issues to be addressed, or else I wouldn't come to tears so easily and get all disociated out in an intake appt. good god.

Maybe you could consider changing to a female T? I have had male T's in the past and it hasn't been a good experience for me (made me feel all stifled and self conscious and unable to be myself in their presence); put me with a female T, though, and all the inside stuff seems to disgorge itself with little effort, if at all.

If you're up for it, it could make for an enormous therapeutic release for you.

Good for you both for going to see an mT - I think it's terribly brave any time a couple is willing to do work together.
