Saw T Today

Posted by Poet on February 26, 2008, at 14:52:14

She said that she wishes she could give me a job, because she understands how much work means to me. She said that my thinking I'm a failure even though I did nothing to cause my unemployment is my playing that old tape again. The negative thoughts are overpowering any positive things that I otherwise would acknowledge about my abilities.

I told her my dream that I ended therapy. She asked if I would have been ready to do that or at least see her less often before the crisis. I said I really felt good while she was away and the dream was so believable. Of course being sarcastic Poet I also said "go away more often I do better without you." She laughed and said you will know when you're ready to end therapy and I will celebrate with you.

She said I've made alot of progress since I started therapy and I need to remember that. She said it took a very long time for me to allow myself to be dependent on her and to trust her. She said she thinks my relationship with her is the first one where I have allowed myself to trust someone and to depend on them that they won't betray me. So I guess for me dependence is progress.

I am still very much depressed, but T is there for me and everyone here is, too. Thank you all again for your support.

It sounds like a great session, Poet. Your T actually sounds very, very similar to mine. Maybe they were separated at birth. LOL

I hate that you have to go through this right now, but I sure am glad you have T by your side.

Hang in there, okay?

Tuck that session away. Your therapist was so supportive and encouraging and letting you know how much progress you have made since beginning work with her.

Regarding that old tape --- you need to toss it out the window. Tapes are old-school. You need to download a new tune on your i-pod or at least burn a new CD!

I'm glad you're able to really take in your therapist's caring. And ours, of course. :)

I'm glad you have your therapist back again, and on your side.

Hi TherapyGirl,

I am trying hard to hang in and hang on. If you throw a pillow at your T does she catch it and throw it back? If so, our T's are twins.

Hi Annierose,

You'd think by now that old tape would have worn out and snapped in two by now. I will tuck this session away, maybe I can burn a mental CD in my brain about progress, not failure.

Hi Dinah,

It is wonderful to have my T back. I'm sorry she returned to me in a crisis, but I know she's there for me and can handle it.

You know, I haven't tried that. She probably would, though. I may try it next week.

And I may be joining you in the unemployment line soon. One of the honchos at my agency did something extremely unethical today right in front of me and I'm getting ready to go to war about it. I discussed it with my T tonight and she didn't try to talk me out of it. But I suspect it's not going to make me very popular with the powers-that-be and will probably convince them to include me in the upcoming layoffs. At the very least, it has convinced me that I will need to be job-seeking as soon as I have my hysterectomy in April.

Hang in there.
