I find that exercise and meditation helps. also, reading something positive or uplifting. Hope that helps!

I second the meditation advice. Meditation has done a lot for me when I stick with it.

Me three - meditation works! And I cut my caffeine consumption down to less than half of what it used to be; that made a big difference in how much anxiety I experience. (Also makes difference in how awake I feel! YAWN)

For me, therapy and medication were the things that significantly improved my morning anxiety. If you've already tried those, then the suggestions above are good.

Sunnydays, I am with you. Therapy and medication were both a big help to my anxiety levels. My doc gave me meds to take for my anxiety on an as needed basis and then he had to amend it to once nightly since I never could decide if I was anxious enough. LOL When we discuss how anxious was enough he then amended it to nightly and whoa that did help a lot. Now, with therapy going better and the meds I am so much calmer. It amazes me to think I did not realize just how bad I was until now I feel calmer. So Coral if you are not taking anything or going to therapy consider it if you are trying all the other things. I tried those and they worked for a while and then the panic attacks hit. I still get those and have xanax to take for those. It is funny how just simple routine things can provoke anxiety.

I do relate to your predicament. It took me a long time to realize that outside help was necessary.

Good luck. and let us know how it goes.

Thank you for all of your answers. I appreciate the thoughtfulness. I am in therapy and, having just returned from an exhausting therapy session, discovered that I am grieving my brother who died thirty years ago. THIRTY years ago.

I do meditate, take meds prn, and posted out of sheer frustration that nothing was working. At least now that I know the root cause, peace will come. That is my prayer.

Again, thank you for your kind responses.

Hi Coral, Sorry you're grieving the loss of your brother.

I often wake up feeling awful. Mostly if I wake up, feel TIRED & go BACK to sleep. Usually the first time I wake up I'm okay but after that I can feel awful. But the lure of staying cosy in bed is too tempting.

Anyway, I have found that doing this 'hold' for 4 minutes can melt away the bad feelings:

Let me know if it works for you.

Thank you, Kath.... I'm working on the technique you sent me (although my longish fingernails are getting in the way LOL ) Obviously, you know about tapping. This is something I'm just learning. Any suggestions about how to learn more?

Thanks...

BTW, how's it going w/your son?

Coral
