BPD works both way as I found out!

Posted by Maxime on February 10, 2008, at 1:22:11

One of the main problems with having BPD is that I am always disappointed in people. I feel slighted if they don't respond to an email or return a phone call.

I just realised that it works both ways. A friend emailed me about seeing a movie tonight. I had to lay down before I talked to her because I was so out of it. But I ended up sleeping 8 hours and I wasn't able to call her back. I AM SO ANGRY WITH MYSELF! I am a bad friend. So you see, I get disappointed in myself as well as being disappointed with others.

I so need help!

I'm not sure getting extremely angry with yourself is all that helpful either. If you look for perfection in a friend, including yourself, you *are* likely to be disappointed frequently. Maybe instead of getting angry with yourself, you could practice being forgiving of yourself when you let others down, and then try to extend it to being forgiving of others who let you down.
