Can You Lose Your Mind Seriously?????

Posted by Phillipa on January 25, 2008, at 12:02:38

Sorry to bother you guys again but feel I must be losing my mind no other answer. I am having the horrible nightmares saw new endo said to go back to original dosing of synthroid that was at breakfast made me happy thought things would be better. Last night dream of some big house with many rooms and all ages of people some questionarie to fill out for jobs I could figure it out and I had new clothes new boots on none matched three different ones and was running around trying to find the different ones to take back and then found out my car was in a filthy yard covered with dirt and I like a clean car, and I was getting so overwhelmed. The ones as old as me were returning to this huge place all dirty heads hanging and defeated they couldn't do it either take this wierd test and I didn't remember I had to take this wierd test with wierd boxes and questions and couldn't figure it out. The old returning ones said I'm going upstairs to bed I quit I can't do it. And each day I want to do less which is nothing to begin with. Can't even go in stores or get truffles with Greg just want the day to end. And I get totally tired l0 minutes with him in a store didn't use to be like this loved to go out and get involved with him in something. And decision of the surgery is it something I should do or not still can't decide although I thought I had. So am I going crazy? Love Phillipa ps still sleeping til ll am waking to the dreams. My first husband is in the dreams too.

I prefer to think I've simply misplaced mine... » Phillipa

Yes, that's flip, but this post is meant kindly:

My guess is that you're suffering intense anxiety over your decision regarding surgery. It's triggering a lot of anxiety, which is triggering dreams, and your daughter's comments about your age vis a vis plastic surgery probably contributes to the subject matter in this dream.

Now I'm going to say something which really is meant kindly, although I don't always manage to convey that intention very well: You're likely to experience intense anxiety no matter what you decide about the surgery. If you decide not to do it, you'll continue to have some anxiety about whether you should have had it. If you decide to do it, you're likely to experience some anxiety about whether you should have done it. That sort of thing is part of having a severe anxiety disorder. Your daughter's comments -- well, I won't discuss those, beyond saying that general anesthesia is much better and safer than it was even ten years ago, no matter your age.

Since you know you're going to experience anxiety about this decision, can you plan on ways to cope with it, or even just decide you'll accept that this *is* anxiety and that you will ignore it? And if you're going to be anxious anyway, would you rather be anxious with the benefits of this surgery, or without?

(((((((((((((((((((((((((you))))))))))))))))))))))

Do NOT worry about your weird dreams. I think they just show that you're really upset & going through a lot.

Racer's comments sound good to me.

I really suggest to try to acknowledge if your dreams are upsetting, but to NOT try to figure them out. Bad enough that you had to go through them without dwelling on them further.

If imagery works for you, maybe you could have a shower; imagine you are a huge sponge & the water is washing away all the feelings, impressions, pictures, etc from the dreams......whirling them right down the drain!!!

xoxoxo please try to be gentle with yourself Phillipa. luv, Kath

PS - can't remember if you have a near-by therapist you see?

a short but funny thing I dreamed.....

Phillipa - not to make light or anything.

But if I tried to analyze THIS dream I had - well I dunno!!!

You know how greeting cards have stuff written in them? Well I woke up & this was in my mind - written as a greeting card-type verse:

Happy Condoms
Happy Spring
Happy Happy Everything!!

????????????????

luv, Kath

Racer my kids throw guilt trips on me cause the youngest wants what little money left from first marriage. But I am going to have the surgery as then my clothes will fit again and as my therapist says feel better about self and better self-esteem. Hard to get old that part too. Dealing with another Birthday. As my therapist said can't stop the aging but can fix things as that is who plastic is meant for older women mostly not always of course and then I do need the ob-gyn stuff fixed. Put it off for years now. And the old tubals left huge scars and cut muscles only way to fix is surgery according to the docs. Thanks Love Phillipa

Yup - no more kids sounds darned good to me!!!

As the specialist said when I was asking how reliable 'tied tubes' were, "If you get pregnant, & after you've finished with suing, you'll be rich enough to afford a nanny, so don't worry about it!!"

lol Kath

PS - have the dreams settled down at all?

Not really all dreams of the past. I still think they are stress related. Thanks for asking Kath. Love Phillipa
