Role Reveral/Mirroring

Posted by beautymarked on January 5, 2008, at 3:10:54

I was inspired by Maxime's post to ask you all about mirroring your T instead of your T mirroring you. Do you ever get the urge to do what your T does? When I was seeing my last T, I would find myself trying to do what he did, just sit and stare intently as a sort of like competition. Maybe a T mirroring me mirroring T sort of thing? Haha.
And as role reversal do you ever feel like you wanted to be sitting where your T was sitting and do the therapy and ease their anxiety?

I can't remember ever feeling that way, but if I did I'd likely express the urge in words rather than in actions. I'm a lousy mimic.

My therapist doesn't mirror me, I don't think. He does sort of the opposite. He sometimes visibly puts himself into the body language corresponding with the mood he'd like to have or would like to convey. So if I fold my arms and cross my legs and look away, and he reads my body language as anger and maybe feels tense as a result, he's more likely to lean back, stretch out his legs, and in general express a relaxed and open receptive body language.

I don't look at T, so I dunno if she mirrors!!
However....lol!...this makes me WANT to look at T so I can mess w/her LOL!
Mebbe I will try mirroring her!
She got a good sense of humour.
Ya, and I want to take care of my T too. I want to take care of all. I want evryone to be OK.
