Isolating myself

Posted by LlurpsieNoodle on August 23, 2007, at 10:57:51

never want to leave the house or be in it.

sh*t. this is how the depression starts.

I'm starting a post-doc training program next week (assuming that they accept me at the last minute)

and my job at coffeeshop starts next week.

just that this week is so hard with no T and no structure.

:( :(

can't handle strife or other people's emotional demands. It's all I can do to hug the kitty. He ran away for 36 hours and I was crying yesterday. but he reappeared. today he has been napping all day long. maybe he went to the drug store for some vicodin or something.

Llurpy, this getting better business isn't easy.
But it will get better.
Give yourself a break in thats it gonna take time to get on your feet.
You had plenty of years getting messed up, it make take plenty to get to the place where you want to be.
Though to me, as a bystander, you have made excellent progress.
Yeah, I think part of my troubles is my lack of schedual, I think I will do better when school starts again.
Goto run, kiids calling.
Take care Lurpy,
M

Hi ll,

I'm sorry. I know that feeling, and I hope it passes for you. Can you think of this week as a total you-focused week? You start work next week, so can you do any last fun things you'd want to do but might not have time to do with a job, even if it feels forced at first? Any craft projects you want to get done, local sights you want to visit, pedicures, etc.? If that's too much, I totally understand too. But it can help if you can force yourself to do something purposefully to take care of yourself, sometimes.

Hi Llupsie,

I have absoultely nothing useful to say at the moment, i am zoned out in lala land. But I know I do care about you, that is true. I am excited for you about next week.
Is there anyway you could keep your kitty an indoor cat? They live longer and stay healthier too. After paying a huge vet bill ontime when one of my cats got beat up in a fight, it convinced me, but it broke my heart and my savings account. But if not, never mind what I am saying, I am probably not making a whole lot of scense right now.
But you take care, and I know this is totally selfish, but don't issolate, because I need you. Yup selfish of me, but well I want you to stay around.

That's a good idea sunny. I have a lot of nervous energy, mixed with dread and excitement. I decided that since I'm home anyways I might as well start cooking (throwing a largish party tomorrow). I have cinnamon roll dough rising in the oven right now. Tomorrow is a babyshower AND our housewarming party. whoa. this isolation thing is starting with a whimper and ending with a bang!

I think I will take a bath and give myself a pedi later on this am. What color should the toes be? This summer I've had red, blue and fuschia nails. perhaps I should do a french pedicure. that always looks nice. nix that- my hands aren't steady enough. maybe a light lavender. I have some that is a pretty silver lavender color.

I gave myself a facial yesterday and I think it stimulated all my pores into rebellion. new breakouts on chin. Actually, these were no doubt already forming, but the exfoliation of the facial brought them to the surface (GRoSS!!!)

Thank you for your kindness ") you're a good sunnydays.

I'm knitting a seafoam green scarf right now. I have about a foot. It's only 13 stiches across a row, so maybe I can do another foot today. that may cure some of my AgiTaTiOn.

seeing local sights would require getting out of the house. And money- did I mention that we're poverty-stricken right now. Haven't been this poor since... 1st year of grad school.

Thank god I have new job at coffee shop. them frappucinos are expensive!!!

I know. sometimes better sometimes not better.

so true...

thanks muffled. it's hard to remember that in the midst of ick, but it's true. the first brush with depression was utterly confusing and i had no insight. since doing more research on my own and therapy and babble I feel more in control.

See?!?! that's something worth saying :) thanks for sharing my excitement (and nervous terror)

that makes plenty sense. I am only allowing him to go out for a few hours in the am. when he comes back for his afternoon nap he will be locked in. Unfortunately this kittie is just a year old. he has WAAAAAYYYY too much energy to stay inside. he becomes destructive and tries to climb up to the rafters by way of bookshelves and such.

I need my friends too, so I'll try my best. The great thing about me and babble is that I post when I'm feeling ick, and I post when I'm feeling good, so it's a win win, if you just wanna see that I'm around. chances are that I will be.

forced myself to be social and go to two parties and worked myself into a tizzy preparing for my own party. Socializing is good.

I'm still riding the party buzz. Had nice conversations. Mood is a fluctuating thing though, but I'm feeling really good. My stomachache from earlier today has even dissipated.

My T always said its best to be around people sometimes, and not isolate...guess she's right...again.
Damn she can be annoying! LOL!

on vacation with babblefriends

I'm on a trip thiw weekend with babblefriends from afar.

That should count as anti-isolating.

I even had the guts to tell T about my online support group and the friends I've met here. He seemed to be cool with it.
