My (ex) therapist is on facebook!

Posted by canadagirl on June 30, 2007, at 21:00:52

I want to invite him to my facebook site. But of course I won't. I had a look at his friends. I wonder why he hasn't looked me up. LOL

My T is on facebook too! I hadn't checked to see if she was on it in a while, so I looked again on Saturday, and there she was! I was wondering why it was taking her so long. She doesn't have anything on her profile though, just her birthdate.

My therapist (thanks to Babble in part) is very aware of that he needs to be very careful on the internet as it is a public place where his clients are likely to see him.

I don't know how I'd feel about seeing him online somewhere where socialization was allowed or encouraged. I think I'd be torn between curiosity and fear that I'd learn something that would put our therapeutic relationship in jeopardy.

How do you guys feel about it?

You're right! I feel so curious. You can view "friends" of the person who has the site, on that facebook thingy. I have my privacy settings set so my "friends" can't be viewed, or my picture. I looked at his friends to see who was there and I think it's just his work colleagues. But. I'd love to see his site. When I went to his profile, I hoped I wouldn't accidentally send him a message. lol. That would be just like me to hit the wrong button. I'm just obsessed. Don't mind me.

Ya, I think people add stuff as they go. She might put some more stuff on later, although you can't see it unless you are "friends". Neat little site it is, though, big time waster for me. I spend too much time on it. LOL

Did you look at the facebook site ,muffled? I wish he would look me up, I'd accept his "invitation" - that's what they call it on the site, when you invite someone to have a look at your info. Maybe I'll start a facebook site under the canadagirl name and invite babblers. Wouldn't that be fun. Well actually I know I wouldn't get around to it, but if someone did that, it would be fun to see pictures of everyone! I'm sure my picture is floating around the net somewhere. Hopefully a flattering one now that I've lost weight. lol

Well, congratulations on that terribly difficult task (could you inspire me, please? 60 pounds need to come off and I can't even get started...:-( ) but I can't imagine any picture of you that wouldn't be flattering. You are a beautiful woman :-)

ps - yes, I have seen cg in person, so I know of what I speak!

Yeah, it's an excellent time-waster... procrastination central for college students! lol

Actually, I can see her profile because she's on my school network... there's one other person from the counseling center who's been on facebook for a while, and he never put anything up, I don't even think his birthdate is there. Maybe they'll facebook each other!

Thank you for the compliment.

I get so tempted to look people up that I shouldn't really! Especially on things like facebook.

Though I can't even remember the name of my last therapist (I've only had two) - her amazing talent for therapy must've blown her name out of my head (I wish!)

Too bad you can't remember that last name. She either made a great impression, or the opposite!
I think anyone who posts anything in a public domain is "lookupable" really, so my view is, why not have a look. I wouldn't say that I am any more curious than the next person, but it's all in fun on that type of site. If someone does not want their information on a site where 1000's of people can see it, then they shouldn't have it there, right?

Definately the opposite!

I think you're right, and people are realising more and more that what's on the internet is available for public viewing and people may look you up (and it be socially acceptable), whereas if you drive by someone's house and office, look up their family etc, that's going too far!
