therapy

Today in therapy, I told my therapist about something that sometimes plagues me, engulfs me, and upsets me. It's an obsessive thought. I can't help but think about it. It's a memory. I've told her about this before, but never got into specifics. Today I sort of got more specific, and now I feel regretful. And I keep thinking about it (the upsetting thought). I wish it would just go away and leave me alone, ya know? And now I'm scared it will never go away.

If you instruct that thought to remain with you forever, it is more likely to behave according to its nature and at least leave you alone until it works out that you are not serious.

I often feel regretful after sharing something, particularly something awful. It makes it more real in a way. But on the other hand, I'm not alone with it anymore either.

When I'm tortured by a memory or thought I try to write it down, over and over. And then I can burn it or fold it and hide it. Sounds silly but it works for me. :)

And if that doesn't work, I go to sleep.

Nothing last forever. I hope it gets better soon.

Thank you Sigismund and Daisy. I had a dream about it, and sorta came face to face w/ it. In my dream I was scared, but came face to face w/ it anyway, and felt better. Since then It hasn't really bothered me. I'm also busier than before so that may be why too.
