F*ck everything, but this IS a cool poem

Posted by muffled on October 26, 2006, at 22:51:41

mt T gave me.

Release Me from the Dark Fury
---------------------------
O Holy and Haunting Presence
whos spirit moves quietly
but surely
in the sound and fury of the world
and of my life
you know me
as rushing water knows the rock
and releases its beauty
to reflect new light.

Open me
to the insistant abrasivesness of your grace,
for I often trivialize love
by abandoning the struggles
which accompany its joys
and rejecting the changes
which leads to its fufillments.

Release me
from the dark fury
of assuming I am unloved
when the day calls for sacrifice
and the night courage.

Release me
from the ominous fear
of thinking of some sin
or failure of mine
can separate me from you
when life demands hard choices,
and the battle, high risks.

Release me
from the dangerous illusions
of independance
when the human family summons me
to the realities and promises
of interdependance
among races, sexes, nations.

Release me
from being possesed
by riches I don't need
and grievences that weary me
when you call me to share
my very self
with neighbors
and to reflect for the world
the light of the kingdom
within me.

Actually, guess its meant to be a prayer,

very moving. I like the part that reminds us that no failure nor sin will keep us from God.

"Release me..." Yes - exactly.

faith in recovery

Muffled,
Thanks for sharing. I'm not a religious person, but I think there is something there that transcends religion. The thing is, that we ALL have the capability to descend into darkness, given the right circumstances. To give ourselves permission to "be released" is to acknowledge that we don't have full, complete control over our minds or our circumstances. One of my biggest cognitive illusions is that "I'm in CONTROL". That I can master any situation, etc. It's a crock of sh*t. Sometimes we just have to relenquish our illusion of control and have faith. Faith in therapy, faith in meds, faith in our social support people, faith in the goodness of strangers, faith in our own subconscious to guide and direct us towards a healing place.

Thank you for sharing, muffled. This is a powerful prayer.
