What my T says in my situation

Posted by SatinDoll on October 26, 2006, at 17:25:01

God, grant us grace
to accept with serenity
the things than cannot be changed, courage to change
the things which should be changed,
and the wisdom
to distinguish the one from the other.

I guess this applies to my situation, but sometimes it is hard not want to change the things that I can't. I guess I need to learn acceptance of the past and move on. Someday maybe it won't hurt so bad.

"...and a hammer to beat on things with in private."

I'm sorry it is so hard.

Just waiting to see my grade posted for a test today. Concert next week, big paper due on Tues and big test on Friday. Yes I am going insane.

Thanks Daisy, I just needed some company tonight.

My group therapist likes to say, "who am I to save you from your pain?" I always want to say
"YOU ARE THE THERAPIST!" :)

Life does get overwhelming in spots, doesn't it? I think when you are studying psychology at the same time as trying to sort things out for yourself, it can feel like you are "in it" all the time, with no breaks. But the flip side is that we might understand the process a tiny bit better. At least I hope so. I have to write a paper on the plasticity of the right hemisphere (brain) and the nueral net repair process. :( What about you?

Satin,

Oh lord, I have that on my fridge! That and a placard that says courage doesn't always roar, sometimes it is the little voice at the end of the day that says "I will try again tomorrow".

It's very fitting for me don't you think?
Tiger Tiger burning bright....

Grieve your childhood Satin, we'll be here with you. It's okay.

Love

Hi SatinDoll,

My T's quoted the Serenity Prayer to me, too. Only I add *not until I get revenge.* I am convinced had I been born to different parents or raised by different parents I would not need therapy. Oh, well, where is that time machine when you need it?

Hi Daisy,

You are right about the psych stuff, it is in my head all the time, and the more I learn the more I wish I didn't know ! LOL Today we taked about personality disorders and even though I havent't dianognosed, I swear I fit some of the discriptions for all of them. I think it will be called the SatinDoll disorder! LOL

I don't know if i am making much sense, I just got home from a party and I had 3 glasses of wine and for me that is a lot, so I am a little crazy.
But anyways my paper is about 10 observations of young children acting up and the parenting methods that were used and what I think the outcome will be for future misbehavior. Not a long paper but I waited until the last minute to do it, so it is my own fault . ;-)
How are you really doing Daisy, I am still thinking about you since your "in session" post.

Thanks Maddie,

I love that saying about courage. ;-) I have a Ralph Waldo Emerson thing I got out of a Mary Engelbriet magazine that says ....

Be not the slave of your own past-

Plunge into the sublime seas, dive deep, and swim far, so you shall come back with self -respect, with new power, with an advanced experience, that shall explain and overlook the old.

I have that on my fridge. I really like it. My T is okay with talking about the past, but he thought the prayer would help me sometimes. What I wanted to say to him was what, did you find jesus over the weekend? LOL I guess you have to know him to know why that is so funny. ;-)

above post for maddie (nm)

I so agree Poet about the time machine. I wish I could change the past.

I really don't want revenge though, my mom isn't worth the energy for it.
Like my T says, she is paying for her actions by not having me in her life and her grandkids. Somedays that doesn't seem like enough, but I am glad it is over with her.

I am happy to know you too, muffy! ;-) Maybe I shouldn't have favorites on Babble, but you are one of them! :-)
