I'm a great fan of CBT, including exposure and response prevention, in OCD and many other anxiety disorders, especially in the hands of a skilled mental health practitioner.

My OCD is largely in remission due to CBT though it flares up in times of stress.

I wonder if they've done comprehensive followups on the study subjects though. Not just in terms of OCD symptoms, but in terms of mental health overall. I'd be interested to know if I'm alone, or in the minority, or in the majority, in that I actually got worse overall when my OCD was controlled. It's like the OCD was a hurricane that swept weather systems into its being, leaving the surrounding areas clear and calm. But without that organizing hurricane, smaller but cumulatively dangerous squalls broke out all over.

Or as I always call it, therapeutic whack the mole. Target one set of symptoms successfully and another pops up.

I *love* CBT. I just wonder if it's not too specifically targetted sometimes.

And of course I could be completely wrong. Perhaps every other, or the vast majority of, clients successfully recover from one anxiety disorder without breaking down in other psychic areas.
