Orchid: meditation /depression/ brain waves

Posted by fairywings on October 22, 2005, at 17:06:33

Hi Orchid,

I thought of you when I came across this information on brain waves and meditation:

"Alpha-Theta Therapy

Things to Consider

Alpha-theta therapy may stimulate memories in your subconscious mind. Evoking these memories may exacerbate depression. Depression may lead to an even greater desire to increase SMR and Beta brainwaves by engaging in activities which require vigilence (e.g. surfing the Internet).

However, I personally believe that the benefits of meditation and alpha-theta therapy are indispensible. Although it may not be a good idea to listen to an alpha-theta CD (mentioned below) while using a computer.

More information about depression can be found on the Depression/Low Arousal page."

Thanks FW.

It is interesting!!

I don't really do deep meditation - mostly like a repetitive prayer which kind of calms my mind down. I wonder if that also has the same effect.

Hi orchid, i dont know. after reading that web page, i got out my CDs. all of them except one tend to depress me. Don't know why. It's the reason i quit using the centerpointe cd though. i must have faulty brain wiring or something.
