my favorite psych sites

These are some psychology sites I visit on a regular (sometimes daily) basis. These are sites with changing content.

•SCIENCE DAILY'S MIND PAGE. A collection of the day's press releases about research in psychology, psychiatry, and neuroscience. Mostly from university PR departments.
http://www.sciencedaily.com/news/mind_summaries.php

•PSYCHOTHERAPY NETWORKER. It's what your therapist is probably reading. A very wide range of articles by and for private practitioners. I think it comes out every couple of months. It has about 20 articles for therapists, and the current ones are available free. (I think the articles are often twice as long as they need to be.)

•MONICA PIGNOTTI has been keeping a psychotherapy-oriented blog for a few months with new essays every few weeks. So far it's pretty good. She had quite a history in Scientology before getting her MSW and brings a great perspective to therapy practice issues.

I haven't looked much at Deborah Harper's PSYCHJOURNEY site that Pignotti's blog is a part of, but it's pretty big, looks interesting and well-written, and apparently lay people can contribute or manage its "domains." I'm gonna bookmark this and go back!

•GOOGLE PSYCHOTHERAPY NEWS. I used to run this search every day, but it only paid off for me every 10 days or so. It's interesting to see how the word "psychotherapy" comes up in the news.
http://news.google.com/news?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&q=psychotherapy&scoring=d

I try to run Google News searches every week or two for some specific types of psychotherapy I find interesting too, like
http://news.google.com/news?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&scoring=d&q=%22psychoanalysis%22
http://news.google.com/news?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&scoring=d&q=%22acceptance+and+commitment+therapy%22

•METAPSYCHOLOGY'S BOOK REVIEWS. New reviews added every few days of books on psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, philosophy of mind, etc. Also reviews a lot of psych-minded novels. The reviews are by lots of different people and very few are what I'd call *good* (there's lots of better writers here at Babble), but it's not a bad way to find out about new books.

•APA MONITOR. American Psychological Association's newsletter for professionals (not just clinical psychs). It's monthly and the articles are free, including news summaries and departments like "Judicial notebook." I like the Letters section, where every doc points out every other doc's poor grasp of the facts.
http://www.apa.org/monitor/ and click on "Table of Contents"

There are a few others I like, but they only update every six months or so. There are half a dozen others I check regularly but that don't have good stuff very often.

Anybody else got sites to recommend? You can see I'd be interested.

Thanks for the list. I enjoyed reading "Psychotherapy Networker", but I agree the articles are rather long to read via computer screen. The real magazine (if it is one too) would be easier reading material.

Thanks for posting.
