Well I did. I cancelled. Unable to face another therapist. Goodbye, male species. You're teases, and you're not even valid. Invalid. Stamp it, baby.

I would never go to a male therapist hereafter either. Good Job. Females are much better.

They work well for us, but just too much stress about the liking stuff.. And it is extremely hard to stop therapy with them. There is too much emotions.

I am going to a new T now, and i think about her pretty much only during those 50 mins. Rest of the time, I am not even aware she exists.. And it is such a relief. With my previous T (who was a male) I was all the time constantly thinking about him, wishing he would like me etc etc.. It was just too much stress.

Well, for some people I'll concede that it's better. But for some reason I can't imagine a woman having the same feel as my therapist does. And I couldn't have therapy, no matter how competent it was, without that feel.

Of course, my mother issues are also far more ingrained than my father issues. And overall I feel more positively toward men than women as a result of that. With obvious personal exceptions, my dear female friends.

Hmmm... Has anyone ever noticed that I generally refer to you as females rather than women? I have this huge fear of women.

I am a straight female, married w/kids and see a female T. I do like her and think about her between sessions. It's not sexual, but there's a longing to feel close to her. I think a good T can make those feelings develop regardless of sex.

yeah.. I know it could be that way also. My new T is especially cold. In fact I haven't seen anyone so cold much in my life. But I like it this way, because otherwise I will end up liking her and it will hurt in the end. Now even a tiny bit if I try to like her, she kind of shuts me down.. the ohter day I told her she was a pretty good therapist and that she kind of understood my emotions, but her face was completely blank and she went on to the next topic. I have never seen anyone who could be so inhuman - not even a smile to acknowledge what I said, and I was saying it genuinely. She is pretty strange. But she is very good in her insight and that is why I like her.

It's partly the feel that's the problem. I just want to feel him all over.

I wonder if it has more to do with the therapist's theoretical orientation than with their biology. It's probably harder to feel close to a blank slate T of either sex, whereas a more touchy-feely T, whether male or female, might elicit feelings of closeness and longing.

Certainly it's common for straight women to develop sexual feelings for a female T, and it can be quite confusing. So I don't think there's any guarantee that seeing a female T will be the solution to those pesky transference issues!
