random t sightings

Posted by rubenstein on April 10, 2005, at 18:28:20

This is the third time I have seen my T running...shirtless I might add. It is a little funny because I get out of church and he is always crossing the street about three blocks down at about the same time on SUnday. Anyway, I know my T is a person, but still it kind of jolted me a little bit seeing him out and about. hmmmm... anyone else have any random T encounters they might like to contirbute to the thread and how they felt about them... I am a bit confused ????

lol. shirtless? eek!

I've seen mine three times, which is remarkably few considering how close we live.

We use the same drugstore, which has had me a bit worried as the possibility for embarassment is intense. I made him make a mutual "no looking in cart" vow with me. But the only time I saw them there, he was just looking at... Oops. I didn't notice of course.

Once in a bookstore. I dumped a pile of psych books and ran like a startled deer.

Once in the post office. I thought he was being sensitive to my feelings when he stopped at a counter and bent industriously over an envelope. But the truth is that he hadn't seen me any of the three times, although he confirmed the sightings.

And I haven't even tried one local restaurant because he said it's his favorite!

(How do you feel about seeing his partially naked self?)

Ahhhh....I would have given my two front teeth to see my T shirtless!!! He's a cutie, that he was. :-)

Well, yeah, Voce, okay, I get all that. I mean I found my ex.-T to be physically attractive, too, but...

....wouldn't it perhaps be a problem, singing without those particular teeth? Involuntary whistling might occur? Plus, what if the truth got out that you gave them up voluntarily, all for a chest-sighting? :-) ;-) :-)

Hmm, you could be right about the whistling thing. I might also end up with a terrible lithp. ;-)

Okay, maybe not my two front teeth, but my left arm. I don't need that to sing. ;-)

My ex T used to wear these button down shirts with the top button undone, and his chest hair would spill out and...*sigh*....

I saw my T at the grocery store once. For me, it was pretty painless. We just sort of nodded to each other. Well, actually I guess I nodded first, and he responded. His policy is not to make first contact for confidentiality reasons if he sees a client out and about.

Of course, he's old enough to be my father, so I don't have any kind of sexual thing for him.

I can't help but think that glee wouldn't be my first thought upon seeing my therapist's naked chest. The same physical qualities that make him an ideal therapist/mommy also make him an ideal candidate for clothing.

Mind you I adore him and think his appearance is all it should be (except maybe being a bit too scarily tidy), but there aren't many who look better out of clothes than in them.

Although MUCH of my glee at just the thought of seeing his bare chest stems from the fact that I think he is an attractive man who is in shape and obviously takes care of his body, I would also be gleeful at having seen something I wasn't supposed to.

You know, our Ts see so much of us, know so much about us, and we know squat (at least in my case) about them. I think seeing his chest would level the playing field a little more for me :)

He is in good shape, but I am young and have always seen him as a father figure, so it was a little funny, I feel kind of wierd aboutthe whole situation... why? who knows? I guess it is transference at work.... I love the responses to this thread...thanks to all

Hi rubenstein,

I have not yet run into my current T. ( 4 months) - but give it time. I think I would be fine with it, but who knows? I think issues can arise we never thought of until it actually happens. It might depend on where, whether he was alone or with family, etc. I'm sure we would at least politely acknowledge each other. I doubt we'd strike up any kind of conversation, though. With me, there no issue of privacy at all, since I don't care who knows I'm in therapy - and would gladly recommend my T., and/or therapy in general, to anyone interested. He knows this.

I can see why that was weird for you, though. It would be the shirtless part...yeah. Adds to the sudden shock of the encounter. I think I might get a little creeped out by that - wishing I could just keep my T.'s "image" as it is in his office, and not see him exercising or partly disrobed. There's just too many possible unconscious things that could happen later.... Your T. must run on a strict schedule, as you see him at the same times. Maybe you could suggest he change it as you obviously can't help what time church lets out...lol (yeah, right) ;-)

no I don't think he has seen me
he doesn't know my car, and it is usually so quick I hardly believe that I have seen him
I don't think I am going to mention it to him
too embarassing
maybe that is why I should talk about it
ah, sometimes I hate therapy

Lol. You are cheering me up today, as it's dreary and blah outside here ...

...as for cold showers and getting feelings out, well...I'll make you a deal, I might elaborate on whether I have any experience using cold showers to uhh....diminish certain fantasies about gorgeous T's..IF you promise to tell your T. about your dream (s) about him...HAH HAH HA!!

PS - Just on an admin note. I notice you putting the name of the poster you're answering in ( ). To save you that effort, did you know you can just check the "add name of previous poster" box, and it will put that poster's name in for you, on the subject line? (Like on this post, you'll see >>happyflower at the end.) It's located just below the subject line when you're writing your reply. Hope that helps :-)

Well, for me that's a mixed blessing. Hope my perfectionist tendency didn't come across as rude, or legalistic or whatever. I just figured maybe being new, you hadn't discovered the purpose for all the little checkboxes yet. Wanted to save you some keystrokes.

It took me months to figure out some features of Babble... hope I didn't offend you at all.

Your comment about leveling the playing field was right on. Some years ago, I had an encounter with my then pdoc/T that did just that.

I was in my local post office and I ran into his ex-wife, whom I knew. I walked around the corner to another section of the post office only to run into him as he came into the building. He gave me this very warm greeting just as his ex-wife was walking around the corner to where he and I were. He greeted her, but I could tell he was really non-plussed, maybe partially because he didn't expect to run into her or certainly didn't expect to run into her in front of me. I beat a hasty retreat.

I have to admit that I was a little pleased by his discomfort, I think just because the table had been turned so neatly.
