p-doc terminated me

Posted by alexandra_k on April 5, 2005, at 0:01:03

No way!!!
How could he do this to me???
Couldn't he even wait until I started up with a t???
Apparantly not.
He has been promoted.
That means he won't be seeing people in the community (within that division of community mental health).
So that is that.
What a #&*%#@er.
I am so hacked off with him.
Talk about picking your timing.
He said he'd still put the proposal for me to get funding to see a t before the funding people.
But he won't see me again.
And he is discharging me to the care of my GP
#*%&$$ him. I am so hacked off...

I feel really very small and alone :-(

He isn't even passing me on to another p-doc.
He couldn't even wait to see whether the funding came through for me to see a t.
He told me that he would work with me if that didn't come through.
HE LIED TO ME AGAIN.
I know that he could continue seeing me if he wanted to.
He said he won't be finishing up completely till August.
But he has decided to never see me again already.
I know he could if he wanted to.
He even said 'I'm telling you this even though it won't make any material difference to you'.
And I had to say 'But that means you won't be seeing me anymore'.
DIDN'T HE THINK THAT COUNTED AS A 'MATERIAL DIFFERENCE'???
Why is he always trying to lie and mislead me???
He has started up about Ashburn again (hospital).
BUT HE TOLD ME THAT WAS OUT.
I am so hurt.
And mad.
And confused.

I hate him so much right now.
He is so full of sh*t.

Why can't you tell him exactly what you're thinking about him and his sh*t? Maybe it'll give him a chance to be honest and real with you, or maybe it'll just make you feel like you have the power again. Because what's he's doing is making you feel powerless, of course you're angry. You need to take back your power. Go give him an earful. And don't be nice about it; just because you're a woman doesn't mean you always have to "behave". This is YOUR life. Take the reins back and let that idiot have it between the eyes. Or not. But do whatever you need to do to be heard in all the right places by the right people.

Ugh. I'm sorry. What a wretched position to be put in.

You can't bring suit in your country? Denied adequate care, etc. etc.?

can you go to the nearest hospital and tell the pdoc on duty how you feel and that this is NOT the TIME for you to be without adequate care? Maybe the hospital can get you assigned to one at least WHILE the decision abou the T is still pending? SOMEONE professional should be able to see what is going on and step in to help...

Gosh, I'm just so sorry ((((((((ALEX))))))))))))))

I'd give you a hug bigger than Sunny's but I'm afraid you can't be wrapped in cotton wool on this one. You can't be made to feel afraid or smothered. Please take this little hug with a shove in the right direction, as well (alexandrak)^ (that's a shove .. like Dinah said .. you gotta start somewhere, girl. This was a good start....
It's TERRIBLE that you're having to do this again, when you just had to stand up for yourself, you just finished slaying a dragon very recently, didn't you? Here's an Attila-the-Hun ARRRGGGH to get you going ...

I might be inclined to send him another earful via email today.
Maybe tomorrow even.
I AM NOT HAPPY.

I can't believe what a creep he has turned out to be

If I go to the nearest hospital (the only hospital in my city) then there is the slight problem that he is the p-doc there who will be assigned to me.

He is still spending most of his time working with inpatients in my division. (The whole region is divided into three divisions and he is the main inpatient doctor for my division).

I shall complain loudly.
But really, there isn't anyone to complain to.
He said that he will continue to try to get funding for me to see a t.
I am a bit afraid of scaring him off that...
But I am also afraid that he won't do that properly because he just doesn't care.

What a pig! I can't believe he'd just leave you in the lurch like that! What does he expect you to do? Did he really say he wouldn't see you again - just like that? No termination process, no gentle let-down; nothing?

I hope he does the right thing and puts some concerted effort into working out the proposal for your new T. That would be some consolation. But, as you've indicated before, you don't entirely trust him to do what he's agreed to do. I hope he makes the effort in this case, but I can imagine you're worried he might let it slide.

> I feel really very small and alone :-(

I hope you won't feel too alone. We're all here for you.

I'd love to give him a piece of my mind. But I hope you'll do that yourself!

(((Damos))) you are a treasure :-)

I got a very hurt and indignant reply to my email to him. :-(
Now I feel bad.
I have even resorted to grovelling and pleading.
Shame on me.

(((Tamar))) Thanks.
Yup, he really did do it - just like that.
In fact he was all proud of his promotion and I think he was expecting me to be all happy for him.
I actually think he got quite a shock that I was more worried for me than I was pleased for him.

He even whined something about 'but you were planning on leaving me in August if you got into the US'.

Who is supposed to be the clinician here???

Sheesh.

Part of me knows I'd be better off without him.
It is just that given my available options the alternative is nothing.
Crap
Crap
Crap.
So the grovelling has begun.
(And the anger is veiled).

I can see how this is bad for me
But it seems like another of those lose lose situations.

D*ckhead!!!!!!! What a sad LITTLE man.

Don't, you've done nothing wrong. I would have thought that not leaping over his desk and beating on him was pretty damn restrained on your part.

The bloke has obviously got no idea, meaning that you have to do what you have to do to get what you need. And remember we're talking need here not want, so there's no shame in that.

Saw the other post where you said he tried to use school in the US to spin it all back on you. HELLO!!!! Like that's not only adding insult to injury. GRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!! And he considered your feelings where exactly? You sure his name isn't Dr Dyson - 'cause he really sux.

Doesn't seem to have...

Heh heh. I'd send him a link to this thread only then he'd know my posting name...

> I would have thought that not leaping over his desk and beating on him was pretty damn restrained on your part.

:-)
He actually realised I was pretty pissed and rather tactfully decided to leave the room in a hell of a hurry to 'give you some time to get yourself together'. He even knocked and waited before coming back in. Hmm. Thats when you are supposed to 'borrow' some of those prescription pads... ;-)

> The bloke has obviously got no idea, meaning that you have to do what you have to do to get what you need. And remember we're talking need here not want, so there's no shame in that.

Mmm. I don't know about 'needs' and 'wants' anymore. I'm all messed up.

> Saw the other post where you said he tried to use school in the US to spin it all back on you. HELLO!!!! Like that's not only adding insult to injury.

Yup. It was after that that he tactfully decided to leave.

I think I just need to try and forget all about this cause I'm not doing so well reflecting on it. I just need to focus on seeing a new t on Monday. Its ok. I'll see her on Monday.

Yeah I think this is best put behind you, as he's just not worth the upset.

I'm really glad you're seeing your new T on Monday and can't wait to hear how it goes. Says he who has never done the T thing himself and who only really saw a P doc to confirm the chronic depression diagnosis and to get an opinion on whether there were any other deeper darker nasties lurking there as well, and the relative worth of therapy. He said that there were suggestions of a deeper personality disorder but not enough to be clearly one thing or the other, and that after discussing it with my GP that I wouldn't benefit from therapy until I believed I would benefit from therapy, and that right now the most important thing was to get me through this major episode. Amazing how quickly some people can recognise that you don't like being 'processed'. Funny isn't it that I'm now starting to feel the time is coming. Lots of bits and pieces coming up.

Sorry, I've been rambling again. Sending lots of good thoughts your way for Monday.

I hope you don't mind being told you're wrong. Alex, you just need a good old bear hug to get you started noticing how nice it is to be hugged by a bear, and then that might lead you to conclude that the bear wanted you to be the subject of said bear hug. Ergo, you are bear hug bait, so get with the program, eh?
