Don't know how to go on

Posted by pinkeye on March 30, 2005, at 21:55:02

Going through an extremely difficult time. Lots of big things coming up and no strength to deal with it.
I don't know how to go on.

When we don't feel like we have enough strength on our own, it's a good time to borrow some from friends.

I haven't too much extra right now, but I'll lend what I have. Maybe if you can borrow a bit from a lot of people, it'll help tide you over.

I know you aren't close to your new therapist, but do you think she can lend you a bit?

You do it minute by minute by minute. You just keep trying. You write it all down. You allow yourself to feel the pain. You cry. You sleep. You wear fuzzy socks and pet your cat. You drink sweet hot tea and read poetry. You close your eyes and pray that God will give you 3 minutes peace.

You email and call your friends. You post here.

And you take it minute by minute by minute.

How can I hang on to you if you aren't here to hang on to? Keep trying. We're here.
Daisy

Pinkeye, I'm sorry. I know that you are such a strong person, and you've said so many helpful things to me. I know you have it in you. I liked what Daisy said. She's right...you have to take it moment by moment.

absolutely moment to moment. You know that things swing from good to bad and back again. Right now you are in the down-swing. Accept that you have the right to your bunny slippers, warm mugs of tea, whatever it takes to get through this moment, and remind yourself that this will not last forever even though it feels like it right now.

Pinkeye, yes, moment by moment, breath by breath.

There are times when I repeat to myself, every breath makes me stronger. Every breath makes me stronger.

It helps me.

Thank you Dinah. You are always there for me. It gives me a lot of support.

I don't know if I could rely on my new therapist. I never feel like relying on her..I like the insight she throws sometimes, but I cannot draw any strength from her.. and she doesn't encourage it either.
I never felt like she is there for me. She doesn't extend herself like that. I used to feel like that with my old T - that he was there for me, but now he is also not there. I can rely on my parents and other friends a little bit.

That is a very good suggestion Daisy. I am going to take that.
We all derive lot of strength both from helping on this board and being helped. I will be there for you. That helps me too.

Thanks Voce. I am not emotionally a strong person - sometimes I am logically strong.. that is why I crumble when I get some big issue going on in my life. But I am going to listen to Daisy. I liked her advice too.

Yeah,, even long drives with music on helps me a lot - and tea of course. Have been drinking lots of warm tea. Thanks. Today is a little better. Hope it lasts.
