Running into T in public

Posted by Annierose on September 28, 2004, at 22:45:14

Above thread gave me this idea for a new thread.
Has anyone run into their T in public and if so,
what if anything happened? I have not and happy for it.

Yeah, I have, a few of them. I greet them just like any other acquaintance, "Hi, Sue," or "Hello, Mr. Jones", following whatever familiarity lines we have established. When someone asks who that is/was, my answer is invariably on the line of, "a friend (or an acquaintance) of mine; a social worker (therapist, psychiatrist, etc) with Pathways (Family Teaching Homes, Social Services, The Nutcase Psych Clinic)".

And I let it drop there. Anything nosier from anyone is inappropriate.

I did once when I was representing my agency and he was doing the same for his at an event on campus. It was no big deal, and I knew in advance that he would be there. But if I were out socializing with my hubby and ran into him, I think it would be more awkward.

Yeah, I ran into one of my T's in the supermarket on Easter Friday. I didn't like it at all I kind of saw her and tried to act inconspicuous but she came up and said hi and we chatted about the plesant banalities regarding whether Monday was a public holiday or not...

Another I was terrified of running into around varsity as she was doing her intern year for the clinical program. Never happened though.

Another I know I could run into at any time. She often does interloans and because they are filed under last names I often see hers underneath mine.

I ran into one of the psych nurses from hospital last week. Turns out he is the Father of one of my friends, and the x husband of another. Now that was embassasing. I had to go outside for a minute to compose myself. Bit of a shock all round...
