Is it safe to return?

Posted by Aphrodite on August 1, 2004, at 6:17:29

I have mixed feelings about my Babble break. On the one hand, I would peak once in awhile and see absolute chaos which confirmed my decision. Yet, I have missed receiving and giving the support that is the wonder of Babble. I have missed all of you. Fortunately, some of you corresponded with my through email, and that helped so much with the isolation.

I have increased my therapy to 2 times a week, so in some ways I am more stable. Thought I would put my toe back in the water.

I apologize for not being strong enough to weather the storm.

No need to apologize, Aphrodite. Most of us who've been here for any length of time find the need for Babble breaks.

I think it's safe enough for the moment, but I think it's healthy to keep up a bit of a guard around yourself while you're here. There's always the possibility of being surprised. If you brace yourself a bit for that, it shouldn't be quite as painful.

I'm so glad that going twice a week was helpful to you! I've found it a very stabilizing force myself, although I think it won't be all that long before I can reduce that. Which is sort of a scary thought in itself. :(

What else has been going on other than increasing your therapy? It's great to see you on the board again. I've missed you.

(((Aphrodite)))
i have missed your posts. i am very glad to see you back.
and sometimes it's good to take a break. but was glad to hear you increased your T time to twice a week. how is that going for you?
i do have to agree with Dinah, i'm a firm believer of always keeping a guard up. but please return (only if you are up to it of course).

And PLEASE don't apologize for taking a break. everyone needs to once in a while no matter what the reason.
Glad to have you back...post away!

Why I came back

Posted by Aphrodite on August 1, 2004, at 17:08:36

In reply to Is it safe to return?, posted by Aphrodite on August 1, 2004, at 6:17:29

Thanks for the welcome back. It feels good to be here.

When I peaked once, Dinah was busy trying to ward off the trolls. (Bless your heart, Dinah.) Then, I looked again the other day and was struck by Pfinstegg's post above about DID and was inspired by her strength in relating her struggles. That is the beauty of Babble -- all of us who would otherwise be alone in the world of therapy, questioning our sanity -- can come together and realize we're not alone or so strange afterall.

amazingly strong!

Isn't that just what makes this place so Amazing? i don't think i have EVER met such INCREDIBLY and truly STRONG people in my life, than the people here! Think, just Think about what we are all dealing with. not just normal everyday woes. but biological issues that just COMPOUND everything about life! it's an everyday battle ground, but we battle inside.
I always say, if you break a leg you can compensate by using the other leg, the same with an arm or a hand, even with loss of sight or hearing we compensate with other senses...what do you compensate with if it is our mind that is hurt??? we have to just take it slower, take things day by day, adjust organizational techniques, ask for help from doctors and family/friends. This battle is a battle within our own minds. we fight and struggle within ourselves. And THAT is why babble is so great. it takes away that isolation of always battling alone.
i don't know if this makes sense but i want to say that the battle is individual but the fight is together (with babble).

But making it, now THAT is something to be proud of, when we make it one more day! that's what i say!
Every day is another battle won.
Be proud.
even though we are responsible only for ourselves, this community, this love, true understanding, and acceptance of one another is just incredible.

Although people post when they feel weak, i think that they are much stronger than they know!
Glad you're back!
b2c.

That's really lovely, Aphrodite. What a wonderful reason to come back. It shows how very strong you are, you know. (It's stronger than I think I am.)

Just don't read everything. Skip anything that might send you over the edge or even near it. Bath is warm enough for toes, but turns cold on and off.

If you know what I mean...

No, I don't have a clue what you are talking about. I'm not near any edge, and I don't understand why you would imply that I am.

fires,
Daisy's posts (duplicates for some reason) were directed towards Aprhodite. You can tell that by the name in the subject line.

Oops, this system still seems counter-intuitive to me: changing subject lines; name of previous poster not included unless you check a box, etc..

Anything I don't use often enough tends to find a way out of my memory. ;)

I'm back from my weekend of unavailabity.

Maybe we should continue this on a separate thread?

And (she says teasingly) isn't it a wee bit egotistical to think you were the troll referred to? You go off to a bad start with some people here, but at least several of us (so far) know we can discuss things with you quite pleasantly.

I believe Dinah was much busier elsewhere.....

Good to see ya.

Hay there fires.

It's long and complicated, but there are some here that have been offended by some of what you posted.

If you would like to discuss it with me, why don't you start another thread and I'll try to explain.

Just remember that in my explaining, I will not be attacking you. I'm explaining as a friend.

Okie dokey?
